Crescent Heights Academy is an independent day school located in Surrey, BC. With 630 students from K-12 in 2024, our population will grow to 700 students in the following few years. Our aim is to provide students with an inclusive community, a challenging academic education with a focus on our students character, emphasizing critical and compassionate thinking and a life-long love of learning. Our school has a vibrant, close-knit family atmosphere where students are known and cared for; we seek candidates that value the professional and appropriate connections with students and their families and understand that every child matters. Plans have begun to build a 120,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility on the current Diamond School site. Job Description- Full Time IB Middle Years Programme: STEM Commences September 2026

Crescent Heights Academy is looking for a teacher to support the Middle School programme through STEM instruction . This position is 1.0 FTE and includes a homeroom teacher responsibility. There is some flexibility in subject and grade level scheduling and as a growing school there are continued opportunities as we expand.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Work collaboratively with others to plan and deliver programming using the MYP framework
  • Design and facilitate learning experiences and engagements that inspire, engage, motive, and challenge learners
  • Develop a caring classroom environment with positive relationships at the core
  • Monitor, guide, give feedback and assess student learning using a range of tools and strategies
  • Communicate effectively and regularly with colleagues, students, and their families
  • Attend and participate in school functions, events and professional development
  • Supervise students at recess and/or lunch breaks
  • Lead after school co-curricular activities/coach athletics teams
  • Attend and help supervise overnight outdoor education excursions
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the Head of School and as outlined in our Staff Handbook
  • Be a contributor within the Crescent Heights Academy community

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor of Education
  • Hold a valid BC teaching certificate
  • IB (MYP) Training is considered an asset
  • Experience teaching in an intermediate elementary/middle school setting, ideally in an independent IB school
  • Experience coaching an elementary sports team is considered an asset
  • Passion and commitment to inquiry-based and concept driven instruction
  • Canadian resident and be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Collaborative team member
  • Effective communication skills
  • A self-starter, someone who sees a need, and strives for solutions
