Summary: The Director, Cloud Services is accountable for the strategy, delivery, and operational excellence of the organization’s cloud platforms and services. This role ensures cloud environments are secure, resilient, cost‑effective, and engineered to enable digital solutions, enterprise applications, and business innovation at scale.
The Director leads teams and partners responsible for AWS and Azure platforms, cloud cost management, and DevOps automation, balancing speed, reliability, security, and financial transparency.
Key Responsibilities: Strategy & Leadership
- Define and own the Cloud Services strategy aligned with enterprise architecture, digital transformation priorities, and business demand.
- Lead, mentor, and develop cloud engineering, and DevOps automation teams, fostering a culture of automation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Act as the senior escalation point for cloud‑related risks, incidents, and design decisions.
- Partner closely with Enterprise Architecture, Cybersecurity, Applications, and Enterprise Platforms teams to ensure cohesive, secure, and scalable cloud services.
Cloud Platforms (AWS & Azure)
- Own enterprise AWS and Azure environments, including landing zones, and shared cloud services.
- Ensure cloud platforms are designed and operated for high availability, scalability, performance, and resilience.
- Drive standardization through reference architectures, reusable patterns, and approved cloud services.
- Enable hybrid and multi‑cloud integration with on‑prem and legacy platforms.
Cloud Cost Management
- Own cloud cost management, fostering transparency, accountability, and optimization of cloud spend.
- Lead cost optimization initiatives through right‑sizing, automation, and architectural improvements.
- Partner with Finance and Procurement to align cloud consumption with business outcomes and financial controls.
DevOps Automation
- Lead DevOps automation practices, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and automated provisioning.
- Promote engineering excellence through standardized tooling, reusable pipelines, and platform enablement.
- Enable product and application teams to deliver faster and more reliably through self‑service cloud and automation capabilities.
- Drive adoption of DevSecOps practices in partnership with Cybersecurity.
Service Management & Operational Excellence
- Establish and monitor KPIs, SLAs, and reliability metrics for cloud services.
- Drive proactive problem management, incident reduction, and continuous service improvement.
- Ensure cloud services are documented, supportable, and aligned with IT service management practices.
Vendor, Risk & Compliance Management
- Manage strategic cloud vendors and service partners, including contracts, performance, and service quality.
- Ensure cloud platforms comply with security, regulatory, and audit requirements. Identify, assess, and mitigate cloud‑related risks, including resilience, data protection, and vendor dependency.
Skills & Experience: Required
- Proven experience leading enterprise cloud services or cloud engineering teams.
- Strong expertise across AWS and Azure in large, complex environments.
- Demonstrated experience with cloud cost management and financial governance.
- Strong background in DevOps automation, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code.
- Experience managing vendors, budgets, and geographically distributed teams.
- Ability to translate business needs into scalable, secure, and cost‑effective cloud services.
Preferred
- Experience operating in hybrid and multi‑cloud environments.
- Familiarity with ITIL‑aligned service management practices.
- Experience supporting large‑scale application transformation programs.
- Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills.
