##Position Description
SickKids NICU admits 800 to 900 patients annually and cares for the most complex and medically fragile neonates in the province, and often the country. We are a tertiary/quaternary NICU, and the NICU nurses work alongside a large multidisciplinary team with expertise in medicine, respiratory therapy, nutrition, pharmacology, psychosocial services, child life, music therapy, rehabilitation medicine, and biomedical engineering.

The first six months of each NICU orientation includes a mix of:
' classroom education
' buddy shifts
' clinical instructor support
' preceptorship
Here's What You'll Get to Do:
- Develop and implement a nursing plan of care
- Work in collaboration with the NICU families and the interdisciplinary health care team
- Gain clinical competence and knowledge base through education in the classroom and in the clinical area
- Utilize evidence-based practice as a base in the promotion of professional accountability
- Provide safe, competent and ethical nursing care
Here's What You'llNeed:
Essential Requirements
- Graduate of an approved Baccalaureate Nursing Program (BScN).
- Active General Class RN License through the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing.
- Possess 1 + years of clinical nursing experience in an RN capacity
- Candidates with less than 1 year of clinical nursing experience in an RN capacity are encouraged to apply to our New Graduate Nurse job opening (Job ID# 23888).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to use your critical thinking, problem-solving and teamwork abilities
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the principles of equity, diversity and inclusivity
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous recent employment, clinical placement, and/or externship experience in a Neonatal Intensive Care unit is strongly preferred.
- Level 2 or Level 3 NICU experience is a very strong asset.
- Previous work experience in paediatrics or experience working with children is strongly preferred.

- This position requires flexibility in scheduling. Shift: days/nights/weekends/holidays.
