You’ll provide key leadership in the delivery of complex, high-impact initiatives that advance key priority actions of the Smart Growth Action Plan.
You will serve as lead implementation advisor on priority initiatives, with a focus on project readiness, sequencing, governance, risk management and coordination across departments and external partners.

How You’ll Support the Team
In this role, you will:
- Provide senior project management leadership for complex, high-risk, high-profile, or politically sensitive initiatives aligned with the Smart Growth Action Plan, including implementation planning, feasibility and readiness assessments, and coordination of supporting studies and work streams.
- Serve as the project lead for assigned initiatives, with responsibility for scope, schedule, budget, risk, and issue management, and for integrating inputs from participating departments, consultants, and external partners.
- Support the Head of Project Management Office in overseeing the overall Project portfolio by identifying interdependencies, sequencing considerations, and shared risks across multiple initiatives.
- Provide functional leadership, coaching, and mentoring to Project Managers, including guidance on project planning, risk management, stakeholder engagement, and reporting, without formal supervisory authority.
- Support the Head of Project Management Office in establishing and applying consistent project management standards, tools, governance processes, and reporting frameworks across Project portfolios.
- Lead the preparation and review of briefing notes, reports, business cases, and decision materials for senior leadership, Standing Committees, and City Council related to assigned initiatives.
- Coordinate and facilitate cross-departmental and external partner working groups to advance complex initiatives, support issue resolution, and maintain alignment across work streams.
- Monitor project budgets and financial commitments for assigned initiatives and support portfolio-level financial tracking and reporting, identifying risks, variances, and recommended mitigation strategies.

What You’ll Bring to the Team
Here’s what will help you succeed as a Senior Project Manager - Growth:
- Degree in business administration, public administration, planning, engineering or related discipline, together with a minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible experience in complex project management within a municipal or public-sector environment; or
- Diploma in business administration, public administration, planning, engineering or related discipline, together with a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in complex project management within a municipal or public-sector environment.
- Demonstrated experience leading multi-departmental, partner-led, or high-exposure initiatives.
- Must possess at least one recognized professional designation (PMP or equivalent, P.Eng., RPP/MCIP, or comparable professional accreditation).
- Demonstrated understanding of municipal governance, Council decision-making processes, and the implementation of Council-approved plans and strategies.
