Reporting to the Business Development Manager, the Purchaser will
Responsibilities: Provide current and future availability of products grown in the Bayview Greenhouses always keeping Bayview as the vendor of choice. Purchase the highest quality potted plants at the best possible price to meet our customers’ demands. Review and distribute all purchase orders daily, ensuring that all information is complete and accurate. Solicit specials and new products to be communicated to the sales team. Keep all product costs updated and current in the system.
Skills
Strong knowledge of supply chain management principles and practices Keep the price list updated with current suppliers based on price, quality, availability, and service. Inspect the product daily to be aware of grower quality and staging. Confer and build customer/supplier relations with the growers to ensure that Bayview is and remains a preferred customer and is offered all new products. Provide information to the sales and procurement team on the product offerings of external growers.
Qualifications
Expert knowledge of Excel and MS Office, Power BI, Salesforce, as well as NAV experience, is an asset. Previous experience purchasing in a greenhouse setting. Excellent organization and communication skills. Professional manners with customers and staff. Potted plant product knowledge is a must. Post-secondary education or equivalent work experience.

Bayview Flowers:
The Bayview Group of Companies are a family run organization which currently operates under 240,000 square feet of greenhouses. We grow potted plants and cut flowers on a weekly basis as well as certain specialty holiday plants. Our facility in Jordan Station provides 50,000 square feet of distribution and cut floral processing. It is also our Head Office, providing space for administration, sales and marketing. This location places us within an 8-hour drive of some of the most populous regions in Canada and the USA. We sell a wide range of potted plants and cut flowers within these regions, to all kinds of customers, from the mass marketer to the corner florist. We are now working on our newest expansion of an additional 100,000 square feet of Greenhouse space.

Company History: Our company roots were established back in 1948 when Clarence van Staalduinen Sr. immigrated from Holland to Toronto Ontario, where he began to make a business through growing and selling flowers such as gladiolus in the markets of Toronto. In 1952 Clarence moved to Brantford, Ontario where he grew a variety of cut flowers and potted plants. The van Staalduinen family purchased Bayview in 1987 where operations were consolidated in Jordan Station, Ontario in 1997.
From 1965 through 1980, the company’s constant and consistent growth called for additional production area, thus began the construction of multiple greenhouses in the Brantford area. Clarence Sr. Introduced his sons Len, Stuart, and Clarence Jr into the business, and as operations continued to grow, the decision was made to relocate to Jordan Station, Ontario where Bayview is currently located.
