Healthcare Security Dispatcher
Site Description:
The Halifax Infirmary is home to the Charles V. Keating Emergency and Trauma Centre. It also houses a number of inpatient units, surgery departments, and outpatient clinics.
The Victoria General houses in patient and outpatient clinics and services.
Position Details:
Position: Dispatcher
Site: Halifax Infirmary; Victoria General Hospital
Hours: 8am - 4pm; 4pm - midnight
Payrate: $20.50/hour
Key Responsibilities:
- As the Dispatcher is the first line of contact for our clients, they must handle all calls in a professional and calm demeanor, providing exceptional customer service.
- Maintain a good rapport with all Paladin Employees and management staff, while being cognizant of the confidential information that must be handled and maintained by this position.
- Dispatch alarm response calls effectively, concisely, and within designated time frames.
- Respond to alarms in a timely manner while ensuring all account instructions are followed correctly.
- Accurately update alarm accounts
- Creation of hospital ID cards
- Complete any other tasks given by the Shift Supervisor/Site Supervisor
Prerequisites:
- Ability to lead, plan, organize, delegate and problem solve.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail.
- Computer knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Ability to function effectively in a fast paced and stressful environment.
- Ability to demonstrate professionalism in all situations.
- Ability to prioritize based on severity of the call.
- Ability to obtain Security License for the province of Nova Scotia
- Valid Standard First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor)
- English (oral and written) fluency is a must
- Previous experience in dispatching, or a related field preferred.
