Job Description The Senior Financial Accountant plays a key part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting and compliance as a U.S. listed public company. The Senior Financial Accountant will contribute to both external financial reporting and internal financial analysis, reporting to the Senior Manager, Corporate Reporting, and working closely with cross-functional teams including Control, Legal, Tax and senior leaders. This is a hybrid role (3 days in office) based in Burnaby, BC.

Responsibilities

  • External Reporting & Financial Analysis

  • Support senior management by preparing detailed and succinct financial analysis to assess business performance and trends on a sector, geographic, and consolidated basis.

  • Prepare portions of Management’s Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) and other disclosures for quarterly and annual filings (Form 10-Q/10-K).

  • Facilitate the SEC and SEDAR+ filing processes to ensure timely and accurate submissions.

  • Compensation Accounting

  • Prepare detailed account reconciliations related to RB’s short-term incentive plans (STIPs).

  • Reconciliations & Journal Entries

  • Perform regular balance sheet account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

  • Prepare journal entries and supporting documentation in compliance with US GAAP and internal controls.

  • Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Support the corporate annual budgeting and monthly forecasting processes

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Control, Legal, and Tax teams to support consolidated reporting requirements.

  • Coordinate with Legal on disclosures, filings, and governance matters.

  • Other Duties

  • Assist with annual goodwill impairment assessments by reporting unit.

  • Participate in special projects and initiatives to improve reporting efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications

  • CPA or equivalent designation (or significant progress towards)
  • 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in public company financial reporting, public accounting, or some combination thereof.
  • Strong Excel and financial analysis skills; experience with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle) is an asset.
  • Technical knowledge of accounting principles and SEC reporting requirements; US GAAP experience is an asset.
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and organizational abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Experience with MD&A/management commentary and SEC/SEDAR+ filings preferred.
