Reporting to the Controller, the Financial Analyst is responsible for the accounting and analysis of transactions and projects that require an understanding of health care operations, general accounting and reporting, financial modeling and the ability to operate independently. This role will focus on maintenance of sensitive vendor data, bank reconciliations, loan, parking, WSIB, HST and payroll reconciliations and other administrative accounting tasks to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant financial reporting in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

" Perform day to day general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and analysis.
" Prepare and post monthly journal entries, ensuring proper coding and supporting documentation and analysis.
" Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations and related accounting schedules, investigating and resolving variances in a timely manner.
" Maintain and update sensitive vendor data in the accounting system, processing new vendor setups and changes in accordance with established procedures.
" Maintains loan covenants including payment and interest calculations, accurate schedule tracking, updates, and compliance in a healthcare finance environment.
" Perform all bank reconciliations that involve matching bank statements to GL, clearing variances and coordinating with Accounts Receivable team.
" Handles HST calculation and reporting process.
" Assist with annual external interim and year-end audits by preparing requested documentation, supporting schedules, and liaising with auditors as required.
" Develop, document, and periodically update key accounting processes and policies to strengthen internal controls and support compliance.
" Provide general administrative support to the Financial Accounting Team, including responding to inquiries and supporting interdepartmental communication.
" Maintain a working knowledge of core finance processes and systems, and provide backup coverage for colleagues as needed.
" Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls;

" Identify opportunities for process improvements to help streamline the current processes.
" Provide input into department's goal setting processes;

" Participate in finance related projects, including system and process implementations, performance improvement initiatives, and other priorities identified by Finance Management or the Senior Management Team.
" Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

" University degree or College diploma in finance/accounting;

" Completion of or near completion of a Canadian recognized accounting designation (CPA via CA, CGA or CMA);
" 3 to 5 years of post-qualification experience in financial analysis, reporting, and month end close

" Strong analytical skills and attention to detail as demonstrated with previous job responsibilities;
" Demonstrated knowledge and practical application of PSAB;
" Experience in a healthcare setting with working knowledge of MIS Guidelines and Ontario Healthcare Reporting Standards is strongly preferred
" Experience with SAP would be an asset;
" Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel software and working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Outlook;
" Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to foster good public relations and effective working relationships;
" Proven to be highly self-motivated, creative and with enthusiasm for change;
" Team player and able to work independently;
" Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
" Able to handle complexity and multiple deadlines at one time;
" Responsive to time-sensitive data requests and ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines;
" Problem-solving/issues resolution skills with process improvement mindset;
" Strong customer service skills;

" Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices, including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area; and
