About the role

The Granite Club is looking for a seasonal Summer Camp Leader from June 15th to September 4th, who will be responsible to provide a safe, stimulating environment for the children in the Camp programs and take on more responsibilities than the counsellors. This permits parents to participate more freely in sports and social activities offered at the club.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Arrive on time and be prepared at least 15 minutes before camp begins.
  • Commit to working the full camp season (all scheduled weeks).
  • Maintain professionalism and demonstrate positive energy throughout the day.
  • Model positive behaviour including sportsmanship, manners, and respect.
  • Complete administrative tasks such as accurate attendance tracking and weekly submissions and ensure safe and accurate check in/check out of campers.
  • Take attendance regularly, especially during transitions.
  • Maintain awareness of camper medical forms, allergies, emergency contacts, and pick up permissions.
  • Apply best practices for inclusive, developmentally appropriate camp activities.
  • Lead and support campers in engaging, age appropriate activities.
  • Develop and implement weekly and daily program plans.
  • Supervise campers to ensure safety, rule compliance, and accident prevention.
  • Report and document accidents, incidents, or concerns.
  • Participate in physical activities with campers (e.g., swimming, sports).
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and engaging environment.
  • Keep the First Aid kit updated and accessible at all times.
  • Provide positive daily feedback to parents and communicate important updates and address all questions or concerns to the Camp Coordinator.
  • Supervise lunch/snack times and encourage healthy habits.
  • Create crafts, games, and activities aligned with weekly themes.
  • Participate in theme days and dress up days.
  • Post weekly plans and communicate any changes to families and supervisor.
  • Develop detailed schedules with the team and distribute as required.
  • Collaborate with fellow counsellors to plan and coordinate activities and events.
  • Provide constructive feedback to the counsellor assigned to your group and delegate tasks as needed.
  • Attend staff meetings and all required training sessions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Activity & Swim Camp Leader

The Activity & Swim Camp Leader plays a key role in creating a fun, engaging, and safe summer camp experience for all participants. This position involves supervising and facilitating recreational swim activities, promoting water safety practices, and ensuring camper well-being during aquatic and general camp programming.

  • Monitor and supervise campers during free swim, recreational water games, and other aquatic activities to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Educate campers about the importance of water safety practices, including proper supervision, swimming in designated areas, and recognizing potential hazards.
  • Enforce camp rules and safety guidelines related to swimming and aquatic activities, ensuring compliance among campers and staff
  • Plan and facilitate a fun and engaging recreational swim program for campers

Art & STEM Camp Leader

  • Plan and lead interactive daily activities that combine STEM principles with artistic creativity (e.g., robotics and design, 3D art, coding and animation, physics in art).
  • Facilitate hands-on projects using various materials and technologies, such as LEGO robotics, circuit building, digital art software, and sculpture.
  • Experience with coding platforms like Scratch
  • Familiarity with makerspace tools such as 3D printers or circuit kits.
  • Knowledge of digital art software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Procreate).

Drama and Theater Camp Leader

  • Background in theater, drama, performing arts, education, or a related field (students and recent graduates welcome).
  • Experience leading theater workshops, classes, or camps for children.
  • Musical theater experience (singing, choreography).
  • Develop and lead engaging daily activities, including improvisation games, script readings, character development exercises, and stage movement.
  • Teach basic theater concepts, such as voice projection, facial expressions, body language, and storytelling.
  • Oversee costume, prop, and set design activities (if applicable).

Leaders in Training Camp Leader:

  • Deliver interactive sessions on communication, teamwork, conflict resolution, and problem-solving to develop leadership skills in youth.
  • Provide guidance, encouragement, and feedback to support each camper’s personal growth and confidence.
  • Oversee group challenges and activities that give LITs opportunities to apply their skills in real camp settings.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, respect, and inclusivity, setting a strong example for future leaders to follow.
  • Collaborate with staff to design daily schedules, manage camper involvement, and ensure all activities run safely and smoothly.

Learn to Ride a Bike Camp Leader:

  • Lead campers through step-by-step lessons on balance, steering, braking, and basic road safety in a fun and supportive environment.
  • Supervise all biking activities, enforce safety rules, and inspect bikes and helmets daily to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Create and lead age-appropriate drills, games, and obstacle courses that make learning to ride enjoyable and confidence-building.
  • Set up and maintain bikes, helmets, and riding stations; assist with adjustments and report any damaged equipment.
  • Provide progress updates to parents, work closely with co-leaders, and participate in staff meetings and training sessions.

Little Chefs Camp Leader:

  • Teach campers the fundamental cooking techniques, including chopping, mixing, and measuring.
  • Teach campers how to handle kitchen tools safely, including knives, stovetops, and blenders (age-appropriate).
  • Experiment with different flavors, ingredients, and cooking styles.
  • Learn about the importance of nutrition and balanced eating

Acrobatics Camp Leader

  • Lead engaging acrobatics activities, including tumbling and movement exercises, while teaching proper techniques for balance, flexibility, strength, and coordination.
  • Adapt lessons to different skill levels and age groups, ensuring a structured, encouraging, and fun learning environment.
  • Encourage creativity and confidence through movement-based challenges, performances, and teamwork-focused exercises.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum Grade 12
  • Valid CPR & Emergency First Aid Required
  • A responsible, patient person who must have a genuine love for children
  • Experience working with pre-school aged children would be considered an asset
  • Previous experience as a camp counsellor and supervisor an asset
  • Previous experience with one of the following: Art and Stem, Drama, Science, Bike Training, Dance, Teaching is an asset
  • Required to work weekdays and/or holidays, AM and PM

Compensation

The hourly rate for this position is $19.00 per hour
