Shop Supervisor
Location: Guelph, Ontario Industry: Custom Equipment & Component Manufacturing Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Our client is a well-established custom equipment and component manufacturer with over 25 years of proven success. They are seeking a Shop Supervisor to lead their day shift and ensure smooth, efficient, and safe operations across multiple departments.
Key Responsibilities Execute, adjust, and maintain the day-shift production schedule to meet delivery dates, ensuring seamless handoff from the morning leadership team. Review work-in-progress at shift start and align priorities with direction from the Shop Manager. Communicate schedule changes and production priorities to Supervisor Leads and Purchasing to support overall operational goals. Collaborate closely with the shop checker, welders, BOM puller, passivation team, and shipping department to ensure efficient workflow and safe operations. Monitor equipment condition throughout the shift and report maintenance needs promptly. Maintain a continuous training mindset and actively monitor work quality across departments. Prepare or verify shipping lists and ensure personnel understand completion expectations. Mentor designated employees to develop strong lead hands for future leadership coverage. Coordinate with the Project Manager regarding order status updates occurring during the day shift. Complete end-of-shift reporting, documenting production status, issues, and next-shift priorities. Conduct formal shift handoff communication to the Shop Manager or designated leadership.
Qualifications (Must-Have) 5+ years of management or leadership experience in a shop or manufacturing environment. Experience working in a metal fabrication environment — required. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Detail-oriented with solid problem-solving and communication abilities. Experience in a similar manufacturing industry.
