About the Position:
The Integrated Women's Entrepreneurship Project is a multi-regional project that supports underserved women entrepreneurs to gain access to trainings, advisory and resources that they require to start up business, scale up and access new markets.
Taking on a case management approach, the Business Advisor works directly with women entrepreneurs who are starting, purchasing, or growing a business. This position provides business advisory, facilitates entrepreneurial skills training, connects women entrepreneurs with resources, and assists on assessments to loans and financing options achieving their goals.
Reports to: Project Manager
Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs business viability assessments and client needs assessments using communication platforms including virtual options, in-person
meeting, and by telephone -
Advises on business start-up, scale up, and market expansion options
-
Provides guidance and feedback on development of business plans and financial plans
-
Assists clients to access business loans and financing options
-
Provides provincial and federal information and resources related to business launch
-
Creates and delivers entrepreneurial skills training workshops
-
Identifies
business mentors and facilities mentorship activities -
Refers clients to community programs for wrap-around support
-
Completes client progress notes in a timely manner
-
Participates in meetings, webinars, events to stay up-to-date on market development and trends for women in business
-
Documents clients’ business achievements, milestones, and outcomes in monthly reports
-
Works as part of a team to meet service targets
-
Engages with clients on a consistent basis to help them stay focus and strategize
on their journey to start business, scale up, or develop new markets
Education, Training and Experience:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related discipline
-
Experience in starting and managing a business an asset
-
3 years of business consulting, investing, banking, and/or related business experiences
-
Experience in supporting clients, in particular women
in achieving
entrepreneurship goals -
Experience in writing
and/or reviewing business and financial plans -
Experience in delivering business skills training
-
Experience in providing mentoring, networking, and business support services
to under-served women -
Knowledge of the regional economic ecosystem
-
Knowledge of major sectors and industries in the region
-
Experience in connecting
with the business community and potential business mentors -
Experience in serving entrepreneurs in rural and remote areas an asset
-
Experience in business report writing

Ability to advise on business regulations, licensing, permits and registration processes

Ability to leverage government and community resources, and utilize
business ecosystems to support clients
in service delivery -
Ability to review and provide feedback on business viability

Ability to analyze risks in a business plan and financial plan

Ability to deliver business skills training in
via different delivery methods (e.g. face-to-face, virtual, group settings) -
Ability to apply an outcome-based approach to meet service targets
