PRIMARY PURPOSE: To provide field services on environmental investigation projects related to but not limited to emergency response, spill cleanup, contamination assessments, indoor air quality (IAQ), hazardous materials and health and safety (EHS) issues in accordance with assignments from clients or senior professionals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
- First responder to new losses including transportation accidents and assesses the environmental impacts and coordinate containment and remedial activities; travel and work outside standard hours (including at night) required.
- Conduct site assessments to determine the nature and extent of contamination present and identifying potential remedial options for client.
- Coordinate and oversee all sub-contractors required in response to an incident and track work efforts to control costs. Interact with contractor and subcontractor representatives accordingly.
- Able to manage workload independently, develop cost effective approaches, prioritize demands and problem solve effectively.
- Provide timely reports to the clients to update them on all projects and keep your manager apprised of all developments
- Ensure that all protocols are followed and reports are completed in a timely manner
- Identifies conflicts within the projects and work to resolve following discussion with your manager.
- Prepare project budgets.
- Monitor the efforts and billing of third-party workers, such as consultants, contractors, and other specialists and review invoices when received.
- Assists in the appropriate, accurate, and timely collection of field samples (air, water, soil, etc.) and submit samples to laboratory for testing and analysis
- Strong team player and safety focused.
- Adhere to established methodologies for project management and EFI Global training and safety manuals
- Document daily billable and non-billable hours. Bill on a time and expense basis for services rendered for projects worked on.
- Follows industry acceptable methodology for performance of services.
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with clients, colleagues, subcontractors and prospects.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Complies with Company’s Safety Programs/Standards
- Properly utilizes Personal Protection Equipment
- Exercises appropriate use, care, and maintenance of equipment (company owned or leased)
- Complies with company standards and best practices regarding the storage of equipment
- Complies with all Human Resources Policies, Programs, and Initiatives
- Meets or exceeds productivity levels and daily time submission as determined by manager.
- Must be willing to work in remote areas for potential extended periods of time (< 2 weeks)
- Must be willing to respond immediately in some circumstances to emergency situations.
- Provincial travel is a possibility in this role, ability to fly on schedule notice is considered an asset.
- Must be willing to work outdoors including on some occasions extreme heat and cold.
- All other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Licensing
- High School diploma required and bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college preferred. Certification in environmental assessment/remediation is an asset.
- Valid driver's license is required with a good driving record. May have to drive for extended periods of time in remote areas.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 + years' work experience in emergency response management.
- Experience in the following disciplines: asbestos and lead-based paint surveys and project monitoring, microbial and IAQ investigations, industrial hygiene surveys, soil/water sampling or related field or equivalent combination of experience and education is a definite asset.

- Knowledge and understanding of current industry standards, Provincial regulations, techniques, and equipment for performance of Emergency Response and IAQ services
