Position Overview
FP Canada is seeking a dynamic and motivated Sales Manager to join our growing team. Reporting to the Director of Sales and Customer Engagement, this role focuses on identifying, engaging, and converting prospective candidates at every stage of the certification path—from continuing education and exam preparation to final certification. A core responsibility is selling FP Canada Institute courses and programs directly to firms, with a strong emphasis on prospecting, securing new organizational partnerships, and expanding course adoption within the financial planning profession through proactive lead generation, compelling pitches, and closing new business.
This role calls for a strategic, driven sales professional who excels at building new relationships, uncovering opportunities, and consistently exceeding targets. The ideal candidate is a confident communicator, highly organized, and passionate about professional education and making a meaningful impact in the financial services sector.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
B2B Sales – 70%
- Drive business development efforts by selling FP Canada’s continuing education and pre-certification education courses to financial institutions and advisory firms, with a strong focus on prospecting, discovery, and solution-based selling.
- Build, manage, and advance a pipeline of firm accounts, conducting presentations and technology-enabled course demonstrations that translate features into client value and supporting adoption.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to align course offerings with industry needs, refine messaging, and support customized solutions where appropriate.
- Consistently meet or exceed sales targets related to firm course enrollments, revenue metrics and maintaining accurate records in CRM and reporting on sales metrics.
B2C Sales - Candidate Engagement & Sales (Certification Pathway) – 10%
- Support outreach efforts to prospective certification candidates through calls, emails, and digital platforms to encourage course continuation, exam registration, and certification completion.
- Partner with the customer experience team on warm lead outreach efforts, maintain light-touch candidate tracking in CRM, and contribute to messaging, outreach tools, and engagement tactics aligned with student services and marketing campaigns.
Sales Operations & Reporting - 20%
- Maintain accurate records of outreach activity, lead status, and follow-ups within the CRM system.
- Develop and maintain nurturing workflows for future candidates or sponsors not yet ready to engage.
- Track key performance metrics and provide regular updates on outreach efforts, pipeline progress, and conversion outcomes.
- Provide feedback and insights to help improve sales processes and campaign effectiveness.
Required Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- Post-secondary education in business, marketing, communications, or a related field.
- 7-10 years of experience in business development or sales—ideally in financial services, association, or not-for-profit setting.
- Experience in education, financial services, certification, or membership-based organizations.
- Skilled in reaching out to potential clients through cold calls as well as phone and email communication.
- Experience with HubSpot is preferred.
- Bilingualism in French and English is an asset.
Competencies
- Experience in conducting live or virtual product demos as part of the sales cycle, with the ability to adapt messaging based on client profiles and use cases
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence in cold-calling and relationship-building
- Comfortable working with targets and managing a sales pipeline.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in CRM tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Self-starter with a proactive and solution-oriented approach.

This is a full-time permanent position working 5 days per week, during core business hours, with some flexibility required. We offer a hybrid-work model, requiring at a minimum, two days a week (40%) on average, of employees’ time be spent in the office.

This position is a newly created role within our organization.
Compensation
Base salary: CAD $80,000–$90,000 per year (based on experience)
Incentive plan: Up to CAD $50,000 per year (performance-based)
– Sliding-scale payouts tied to attainment across multiple lines of business
On-Target Earnings (OTE): CAD $130,000–$140,000 per year (base + incentive at 100% target attainment)
OTE is a target earnings benchmark and is not guaranteed; actual incentive payout varies based on performance
