In this role, you’ll repair, assemble, and test a variety of production tooling to ensure peak performance, supporting operations in either our Cambridge or Woodstock facilities within the Plastics or Stamping departments.

Role Overview

As a Tool & Die Maker, you’ll be responsible for ensuring tooling is production-ready by troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining stamping dies and injection moulds. You’ll support production teams in minimizing downtime and enhancing overall equipment effectiveness through preventive maintenance and continuous improvement.

What you'll be doing

  • Diagnose and resolve tooling issues affecting production quality or performance
  • Perform preventive maintenance on dies or moulds, including mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical inspections
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems integrated within tooling
  • Operate cranes safely to move and position dies or moulds for maintenance or repair
  • Machine, fit, and assemble precision components using lathes, mills, grinders, and hand tools
  • Perform welding, polishing, and hand-finishing work on tooling surfaces
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement long-term tooling improvements
  • Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to apprentices and other team members

What you'll bring

  • Ontario or Inter-Provincial Tool & Die Maker (430A) Certificate of Qualification
  • Completion of apprenticeship plus 2+ years of relevant experience, or 7+ years of licensed experience
  • Proficiency with machining (mill, lathe, grinder) and precision fitting
  • Experience with CNC machining, including 2D/3D tool paths (MasterCAM, WorkNC, SolidWorks, or CATIA experience preferred)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems within dies or moulds
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts and at both the Cambridge and Woodstock facilities
