PAYROLL CLERK – OPEN COMPETITION
About the role
Job Purpose The Payroll Clerk interprets, analyzes and complies with federal, provincial and territorial legislation and regulations. They also must be knowledgeable about employment contracts, collective agreements, corporate policies and third-party contracts. The Payroll Clerk pays employees by calculating pay and deductions and issuing cheques.
Education, Experience And Requirements
- Related post-secondary education or work experience, or a combination of both.
- Diploma or Degree related to accounting, business administration, commerce, human resources, industrial relations or psychology would be an asset.
- Certified by the Canadian Payroll Association or willing to complete certification requirements within a specified period of time.
- Have a clear Criminal Record Check.
- Care and accuracy when dealing with details.
- Trustworthiness.
- Good organizational skills.
- Effective problem solving decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently and with others in a team environment.
- Ability to work well under pressure and consistently meet deadlines.
- Good verbal and written communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to keep personal information about employees and others confidential.
- Tact when dealing with sensitive employee issues.
- Willingness and ability to keep up to date with evolving technology.
- Strong aptitude for math.
- Should enjoy using computer systems, and compiling, interpreting and providing information about payroll matters, benefit plans and collective agreement provisions.
Working Conditions
Standard work schedule: Monday to Friday, 830 – 430 (with a one-hour paid lunch break); flexibility to work evenings/weekends as needed.
- Primary location: Enoch Cree Nation Finance Centre Building, with occasional travel to various sites.
- Physical fitness required (ability to walk, climb stairs, lift up to 50 lbs, etc.).
- A valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle are required.
- Must sign and adhere to the Enoch Cree Nation Confidentiality Agreement upon hire.
