The West Vancouver Human Resources Department is currently seeking a temporary, full-time Human Resources Associate. If you are an experienced, energetic, detail-oriented, and resourceful problem solver with a can-do attitude, this is the perfect opportunity for you. Reporting to the Manager of Human Resources, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Providing proactive support to a team of HR, Labour Relations and Occupational Health & Safety professionals;
- preparing sensitive, confidential correspondence, documents and reports;
- providing front-line services and support to employees and managers in relation to HR processes, policies, collective agreements and established interpretations;
- participating in the recruitment process, including leading line managers through recruitment;
- creating job postings and coordinating the District’s recruitment and application process;
- coordinating and leading specific District HR initiatives;
- supporting and contributing to the ongoing development, implementation, coordination, and administration of the employee engagement programs;
- participating in confidential Labour Relations meetings, including documenting, and leading certain workplace investigations;
- assisting with corporate training initiatives and programs, including developing themes, researching vendors and organizing training sessions;
- assisting with disability case management, WorkSafe BC reporting and inquiries, and occupational health and wellness initiatives and processes;
- coordinating HR statistical data such as risk management and HR metrics; and
- performing other related duties as required.
The preferred candidate will possess: a general knowledge of HR policies, procedures, relevant acts, regulations, guidelines, and collective agreements; a meticulous attention to detail; a passion for labour relations and keen demonstrated interest in progressing in a multi-union government environment; the ability to develop relationships and communicate effectively; knowledge of the principles, standards and practices of the relevant areas of Human Resources.
The successful candidate will have completed a degree or diploma in Business Administration, Human Resources or a related field, plus relevant experience in a unionized environment. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. A current BC Driver’s License and full-time access to a vehicle is required.
The successful candidate will be required to supply an acceptable Police Information Check and a copy of their credentials.
Hours of Work:
35 hours per week (hours and days of work may vary)
Rate of Pay:
$86,200.00 - $97,000.00 per annum (2025 rates)
