About the role

Cochrane is located in the breathtaking Bow Valley corridor in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in southern Alberta. With a population of over 37,000 people, and growing steadily every year, Cochrane is a thriving town, surrounded by world-famous ranch country. Our western heritage is reflected in the Town’s architecture and our friendly people. The Town of Cochrane welcomes innovative and skilled individuals to join our team of over 250 employees.

At the Town of Cochrane, we believe strong families build strong communities. Our Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) team is committed to encouraging, strengthening, and stabilizing family and community life. Within FCSS, the Family Resource Network (FRN) provides a range of services focused on improving child development, building resiliency, increasing social support, and connecting families to the resources they need to thrive.

We’re looking for a passionate and adaptable Family Support Worker who thrives in the FRN’s fast-paced, people-centered environment. If you're energized by variety, collaboration, and meaningful work - this is the role for you!

Please note: This is a temporary maternity leave coverage position, expected to last approximately 12 to 18 months. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining continuity of services during this period.

Families with children and youth (ages birth to 18) drop in daily to the FRN, seeking support, guidance, and connection. You’ll be the welcoming face and trusted resource who develops and delivers universal, targeted, and intensive programs that promote positive child development, strengthen caregiver capacity, and foster community connection.

This role is deeply collaborative - you’ll work closely with internal teams, external partners, and families to identify needs, advocate for services, and build bridges across health, social, and community networks.

What Your Days Could Look Like

No two days are the same in this role – and that’s exactly what makes it so rewarding. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment where flexibility, creativity, and connection are key, you’ll love being part of our team. You’ll move between meaningful moments and impactful tasks such as:

  • Designing and delivering engaging programs that support child development and empower parents
  • Providing developmental screenings and guiding families toward the right supports and services
  • Building trusted relationships with families while collaborating with internal teams and community partners
  • Creating a safe, welcoming space at the FRN and promoting services through outreach and engagement
  • Supporting documentation, program evaluation, and stepping into emergency response when needed

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Social Work, Early Childhood Development, or related field
  • 3+ years’ experience working with children, youth, and families
  • Triple P and Brain Story certifications
  • Strong knowledge of child development, family dynamics, and community resources
  • Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite

Why Join Us?

  • Make a meaningful impact in the lives of families and youth every single day
  • Be part of a supportive, innovative, and mission-driven team
  • Work in a vibrant community that values connection, inclusion, and growth
  • Enjoy competitive compensation and opportunities for professional development

If you’re ready to bring your passion, creativity, and heart to a role that truly matters – we’d love to hear from you!

  • Qualified individuals are encouraged to submit a resume and cover letter outlining how their experience aligns with the required qualifications, skills, and abilities.
