Contract Type: Independent Contractor.
Duration: 10 weeks twice a wek
Overview
We are seeking a creative and motivated Chess & board Instructor to join our extracurricular program. In this role, you will design and deliver engaging chess lessons for elementary to junior high students, encourage teamwork and problem-solving, and provide meaningful feedback to parents.
Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum Development: Create and adapt age-appropriate chess & board games activities that align with learning objectives.
- Engaging Instruction: Deliver interactive and inclusive lessons for groups of at least 10 students.
- Hands-On Learning: Guide students through chess & board games that foster critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity.
- Parent Communication: Provide regular updates on student progress and learning outcomes.
- Resource Management: Maintain chess & board games kits ensuring readiness for each session.
- Team Collaboration: Work with other instructors and staff to support the overall program.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of chess strategy and different board games.
- Experience teaching or mentoring elementary to junior high students.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to different learning styles.
- Patience, creativity, and a passion for inspiring young learners.
- English required; French an asset.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with chess teaching
Contract Details
- Independent contractor role .
- 10-week contract, twice a week during lunch (10:45-12:50).
- Location: Dollard des Ormeaux
- Compensation: Paid per session
