About the role
Job Description:
Do you enjoy working in a fast-paced, safety-obsessed aviation environment? Are you a decisive leader that others can rely on when things get chaotic?
AGI is a premier aviation services company operating in over 50 cities across North America. With a 45-year legacy of excellence, we service nearly 200 airline customers every day. As we expand our operations, we are looking for the "best in the industry" to lead our teams at YVR. At AGI, the sky is the limit!
The Operations Supervisor is the tactical "nerve center" of our ground handling operation. You serve as the primary liaison between the Airline Operations Control Center (OCC) and our Ramp Leads**.** This is a high-pressure, leadership role. You are responsible for the real-time synchronization of manpower, equipment, and airline schedules. You don't just follow a plan; you adjust the plan every time a flight delays, a gate changes, or an IROP (Irregular Operation) occurs.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Liaison: Act as the principal point of communication between AGI Ramp Operations and the airline customer (OCC). Coordinate gate activity, towing requirements, and fuel/payload changes.
- Dynamic Task Assignment: Manage real-time flight activity and resource allocation. Proactively assign crews and Ground Support Equipment (GSE) to meet shifting demands.
- IROP & Delay Management: Anticipate and plan for Irregular Operations (weather, mechanicals, ATC holds). You are responsible for developing recovery plans to maintain Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Performance Accountability: Monitor and record operational performance metrics. Conduct root-cause analysis for any delays and provide reporting to the Duty Manager.
- Resource Oversight: Work closely with the Duty Manager to ensure manpower is optimized across the shift. Ensure all unserviceable GSE is immediately removed from service and reported to maintenance.
- Safety Leadership: Promote a "Safety First" culture. Conduct spot audits of safety procedures and ensure all staff are compliant with AGI and Transport Canada regulations.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of experience in aviation ground handling or cargo/mail operations. Previous experience in a supervisory or coordination role is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Strong computer proficiency and math skills. Experience with flight tracking software or airline baggage systems is an asset.
- Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills; must be able to deliver clear instructions and maintain a professional demeanor during high-stress situations.
- Age/Education: Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a High School Diploma or GED.
- Security: Must possess a valid Driver’s License and be able to obtain/maintain an Airport Restricted Area Access Clearance (RAIC).
Physical & Environmental Demands
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds (32 kg) on a regular basis.
- Ability to carry heavy items up and down jetway stairs and move frequently within aircraft holds.
- Ability to climb, bend, kneel, crawl, and stoop for extended periods.
- Willingness to work outdoors in all types of weather (heat, cold, rain) and around high-decibel jet and machinery noise.
Why Join AGI?
- Competitive salary/pay with management-level advancement opportunities.
- Comprehensive on-the-job training and safety incentive programs.
- Be part of a global leader in aviation services during an exciting growth phase at YVR.
