About the role
The Financial Analyst (Reporting & Planning) is mainly responsible for reporting and analyzing on the overall financial results and coordination of budgets, forecasts and other projections.
This role ensures the integrity of various reports with focus on completeness, accuracy and timeliness and adding value to the business.

In a typical day, YOU will:
- Prepare assigned balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis.
- Prepare and review assigned GL expense account analysis to ensure accurate presentation of expenses in financial data.
- Manage allocations through working closely with Finance Solutions and IT Systems Analyst
- Manage the reporting framework (FSA), CODA/Microsoft Dynamics 365 and BPC SAP EPM
Financial Reporting
- Perform corporate reporting process to TIL
- Compile and analyze financial narratives from Controllers and other departments, which forms the basis for the preparation of the consolidated report
- Produce monthly, quarterly, and yearly management narratives for actual results
- Produce forecasting & budgeting management narratives
- Ensure accuracy, consistency and timeliness of financial reporting and analyses.
- Prepare monthly or other periodic variance and trend reports
- Prepare the monthly ROA calculation and submission to FSA.
- Assist with the preparation of materials for Caterpillar Reporting and C-Suite.
- Produce periodic and ad hoc reports to support departments and senior management.
Planning (Budgets/Forecasting) & Analysis
- Prepare the system for data entry for the three (3) forecasts and annual Budget
- Ensure accuracy and balancing to FSA
- Main point of contact for questions relating to data submissions from Controllers & branches
- Understand and complete the Head Office forecasting/budgeting process
- Understand and run various allocations after branch submissions
- Analyze and interpret variances & trends
- Provide financial analysis for major expense categories and balance sheet accounts
- Prepare ad hoc sensitivity analysis reports focused on potential impact of changes in market dynamics and volumes.
- Assess various KPIs and scorecards to analyze results, monitor variances and identify trends.
- Various year-end tasks, including the production of loss sales and internal margin analysis.
- Complete Stats Canada requests and liaise with teams for data gathering
- Create and develop good relations and broaden network with peers, internal and external auditors
- Work in a collaborative and constructive manner with divisional controllers and cross-functional partners.
- Protect organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
- All other duties as needed or required.

Must-haves for this role:
- Vocational Diploma/CEGEP in Accounting, Finance, Business Admin
- 6-8 years of relevant expérience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong computer skills; MS Office Suite
- Professional and a positive attitude
- Knowledge of accounting practices
