As a Railway System Engineer , you will contribute to innovative solutions for critical systems that ensure the safety and performance of transportation infrastructure. This role will primarily focus on the infrastructure within a railway system and is a critical position within a railway project. Centered on the design of cable management systems, the role requires multiple interfaces with other teams to ensure a systems-based design approach. The candidate must have a strong knowledge of guideway infrastructure solutions on elevated guideways, in tunnels, and at junction points for each station.
Your Impact
- Design and integrate cable management systems for all railway subsystems on complex projects (MV, OCS, COMS, S&TCS).
- Design and coordinate cable containment systems in accordance with industry standards and project requirements.
- Develop cable containment layouts for elevated guideways, tunnels, stations, and inter-system junction points.
- Coordinate cable containment interfaces with civil, structural, and architectural disciplines.
- Produce and review 3D models, drawings, and layouts using Civil 3D, BIM, and Revit to support an integrated design approach.
- Ensure cable containment designs are fully coordinated within the BIM environment and aligned with project information delivery requirements.
- Ensure all solutions comply with applicable safety standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize system integration and interoperability.
- Prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates related to cable management and containment systems.
The Skills That Set You Apart
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline with minimum 5 years in the railway industry.
- Member in good standing of the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) or another Canadian engineering jurisdiction.
- Proven experience in electrical design and cable management.
- Knowledge of railway standards (AREMA, CENELEC) is an asset.
- Ability to work on large-scale projects with tight schedules and high-quality requirements.

Compensation AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $114,600 – $151,800
MB & ON: $104,500 – $143,900
NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $103,500 – $137,400
