Urban Impact is hiring a Heavy-Duty Commercial Mechanic to join our shop in New Westminster.
Are you a Commercial Transport or Heavy Duty Mechanic with knowledge of Hydraulic Systems? This is a skilled position which primarily involves preventative maintenance and repair of a large fleet of commercial transport vehicles including trucks, trailers, forklifts and light-duty trucks.

About the Role
We’re looking for a 4th year apprentice or Red Seal Commercial Transport/Heavy Duty Mechanic with hydraulic system knowledge. This role focuses on preventative maintenance and repairs for a large fleet, including trucks, trailers, forklifts, light-duty trucks, and other commercial transport vehicles.

Flexible schedule, including weekends and overtime

Preferred schedule: 4 x 10-hour shifts, Sunday to Wednesday

Job Requirements and Qualifications

Registered 4th year Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanic.
-
Experience on Forklifts; preference given to LPG and Diesel units; familiar with hydraulic systems, electronic controls Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner
-
Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and hydraulic problems.
-
Strong Preventative maintenance experience
-
Physical requirements of this position include the ability to push, pull, drag, and lift items up to 50 pounds, and occasionally must work at shoulder level with equipment weighing up to 25 pounds
-
Ability to work in a team environment
-
Valid Class 5 License and clean drivers abstract
Job Responsibilities
-
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will
-
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, fabricate and rebuild parts as necessary
-
Identify and troubleshoot problems with engines, transmissions, braking systems, and other components of heavy-duty equipment.
-
Utilize diagnostic tools (ET) and technical manuals to pinpoint issues and develop effective repair solutions
-
Perform routine inspections and replace worn or damaged parts to prevent equipment failures and increase longevity (fleet of 10 forklifts and 4 Wheel Loaders)
-
Perform all work in accordance with safe work practices and procedures, participate in safety inspections, audits and hazard analysis and follow and comply with all safety policies and regulations
-
Install new equipment and overhaul or modify current equipment as required

Assist Maintenance Manager in Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including parts used, repairs made, and hours worked
-
Provide detailed reports on the condition of equipment, maintenance performed, and recommendations for future actions

Complete daily Technician reports
-
Generate and improve of job plans, tasks, routes and maintenance standards
