Cardiology Technologist

CUPE17 $34.29/hr $39.49/hr

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform electrocardiograms for outpatients and inpatients in various areas of the hospital
  • Perform Stress Testing including Nuclear Stress Testing and Cardiac Holter monitor set-up and scanning
  • Ensure diagnostic procedures and patient care is consistent with departmental standards
  • Attend in-service, continuing education programs, as well as staff meetings as required to maintain competence
  • Ensure that while performing various diagnostic procedures that the equipment utilized is operated in such a manner to ensure patient safety and conforms to manufacturers guidelines for safe operation
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of various ECG equipment
  • Maintain electronic filing, indexing and retrieval system
  • Provide technical training to nursing & medical staff on the techniques of performing electrocardiograms
  • Be fully knowledgeable of his/her responsibilities under the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and the Hospital’s Accident Prevention Plan, and work in compliance with these provisions in order to create an environment which is conducive to the health and safety of the Hospital’s staff, patients and visitors
  • Demonstrate QCH values: Collaboration, accountability, innovation and respect

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12 education
  • Graduated from a recognized college with an accredited program for Cardiology Technologist
  • Formal training in Electrocardiogram, Cardiac Stress and Cardiac Holter technique
  • Minimum one year experience
  • Registered or registry-eligible with the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists and the Cardiology Technologists Association of Ontario or equivalent
  • Current CPR certification

PREFERRED:

  • Knowledge of Cardio Server
