Based in Montreal and reporting to the Head of Fleet Management, we are looking for a Manager, Fleet Management that will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe working of the fleet of vessels under his/her direct supervision.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING | THE ROLE Key Responsibilities Include

  • Be an active interface between Fednav’s commercial vision and the available (technical/operational) solutions for Fednav’s overall success through day-to-day coordination with the owning/operating interests, the Ship Manager(s), and the crew on-board.
  • Compliance and Assurance: Develop, implement, and execute comprehensive compliance programs to ensure all vessels meet international and local maritime safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies. Conduct regular audits and inspections to verify compliance. This also includes crew wellbeing, crew engagement and Fleet HSSEQ initiatives. Travelling to ships will be required in this role.
  • Corrective action: Ensures investigation and proper follow-up and closeout for all accidents and injuries to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Fleet availability: Leveraging technical expertise and engaging the appropriate stakeholders to ensure fleet trading availability and reduce unexpected issues. This includes being on-call during weekends/holidays to deal with any upcoming situation.
  • External Relations: Maintain trustful relationships with Flag States; Class; RightShip, and other industry bodies.
  • Budget Management: Working closely with internal stakeholders to support and optimize the total OPEX and CAPEX lifecycle cost of the fleet and verification to support the financial budgets for routine and extraordinary events.
  • Driving key initiatives in line with Fednav’s ESG ambitions.

WHAT YOU BRING | THE PERSON The Ideal Candidate Has

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role in the Maritime Industry.
  • A combination of shore and sea experience in engineering is a preferred asset.
  • The ability to develop and maintain respectful and mutually beneficial business relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving abilities with ability to effectively take decisions.
  • An organized process mindset.
  • Superior verbal and written communication ability (including writing clear reports).
  • Strong knowledge of maritime regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
  • A demonstrated creativity in his/her work and approach to challenges.
  • Good computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work outside of regular business hours, including weekends and holidays when necessary
