About the role
Position Overview Solution Architect Senior is a key member of the technology leadership team, responsible for driving the systems architecture forwards to an end-state vision that modernizes, transforms and simplifies the GSI IT systems landscape.
Accountable for designing solutions for one or more business capabilities for one or more Global Specialty Insurance (GSI) Entities (e.g. AMIG, HSB, MRS-NA, MRS-GM,) that are in alignment with GSI wide technology strategy. Focuses on the end-to-end solution for a business problem, including both technical and business aspects. Works at a broader scope, addressing how systems, software, and business processes integrate to solve specific business needs.
Your Role:
- Focuses heavily on how technology supports business outcomes and works closely with non-technical teams. Responsible for bridging the gap between technical teams and business stakeholders.
- Collaborates with business stakeholders to understand requirements and align solutions with business goals.
- Develops architectures for complex systems, ensuring consistency with IT target architecture, specified requirements agreed with customers
- Manages and develops the target design, policies and standards, working proactively to maintain a stable, viable architecture
- Establishes policy and strategy for the selection of complex systems architecture components, and coordinates design activities, promoting the discipline to ensure consistency
- Communicates complex architecture objectives to business and consults during the development of product requirements. Provides oversight throughout design implementation into a productive solution.
- Ensures the solution meets functional, non-functional, and regulatory requirements (especially in domains like insurance).
- Designs the overall architecture that includes applications, data, and infrastructure, ensuring it aligns with the strategic goals of the organization. Accountability for detailed component specifications and translating them into detailed designs for implementation.
- Proficiency in data modeling, data integration, and data analytics, as data is a crucial aspect of insurance operations. Works in close collaboration with other respective architect to meet this expectation.
- Utilizes knowledge across multiple Technology disciplines (e.g., software, infrastructure, integration, security) and collaborates with respective TECHNICAL/APPLICATION/PLATFORM ARCHITECT for in-depth capabilities of the technology components and technology platforms
- Presents to Business partners to describe clear understanding of the business requirements and covey/propose technology solutions
- Documents solution designs (SDD) and obtains approvals from Solution Design Forums (SDF) and Architecture Review boards (ARB). Ensure production of artifacts necessary to meet our architectural governance processes. Adhere to internal controls.
- Often deals with cross-domain challenges, ensuring different components work together as a cohesive system.
- Works with solution delivery teams during Project execution to provide oversight and active involvement in the delivery and implementation of architected solutions.
Your Profile:
- University degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience delivering IT solutions within the insurance industry, ideally in Specialty or Commercial Insurance.
- Strong insurance domain knowledge, including underwriting, claims, risk management, insurance products, customer journey, market practices, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., ISO, OSFI, GDPR).
- Ability to interpret business requirements and translate them into clear technical specifications for development and integration teams.
- Skilled in business engagement and technology consulting, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders and senior leaders.
- Deep understanding of IT architecture principles, enterprise architecture frameworks, and core insurance systems such as policy administration, claims, reinsurance, and reporting.
- Extensive experience in application development, data management, and system integrations; exposure to insurance‑focused or SaaS technology platforms is an asset.
- Proven experience designing and developing technical solutions, including applying IT risk, security, and SDLC best practices.
- Strong knowledge of cloud technologies and emerging trends within the insurance technology landscape, with the ability to apply them to enhance operational efficiency and customer experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with business users, IT teams, vendors, and senior management.
- Demonstrated ability to foster collaboration across cross‑functional teams and encourage a culture of knowledge sharing.
- Thought leadership mindset, with the ability to stay ahead of market trends and shape future technology capabilities that drive business value.

Our base salary range for this role is between $164,010 and $179,630 per year, plus an opportunity for an annual company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay. The salary estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for candidates hired in this position. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to internal equity.
