WHAT’S THE TEAM LIKE
Cybersecurity at Calgary Airports helps ensure safe, secure, and uninterrupted airport operations by protecting both corporate IT and operational technology that powers real‑world services. Our team reduces cyber risk while enabling the technologies that build tomorrow’s guest experiences today. We work across the organization to strengthen resilience, so safety and operability remain the top priorities especially under cyber pressure.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Owns development and maintenance of cybersecurity policies, standards, and procedures; ensures alignment to updated frameworks and evolving technology stacks.
- Leads and responsible to address risk items associated with the cybersecurity team; this includes participating in risk assessments and exception reviews, as well as driving remediation activities.
- Design, document, and update reference architectures leveraging existing investments, new cybersecurity tools and trends.
- Leads integration of logs and telemetry to Sentinel; authors KQL analytics rules, UEBA tuning, workbooks, automation rules and playbooks (Logic Apps).
- Serves as incident commander for significant events; performs triage, scoping, containment, eradication, and recovery; documents incident reports and lessons learned.
- Work closely with the security operation team on incident investigation and remediation; as well as collaborates with them on tuning existing cybersecurity investment to protect against emerging threats.
- Performs and leads advanced investigations across endpoint, identity, email, SaaS, and cloud using M365 Defender, Sentinel, and related tools.
- Coaches junior analysts and help establishes skill development plans; disseminates threat intel and best practices.
- Participates and represents Calgary Airports in industry forums; travel, as required, for training, conferences, or collaboration with peer airports and agencies.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING

- 8 to 10 years of progressive experience specifically in cybersecurity operations.
- Extensive experience in cybersecurity operations and architecture, with a proven ability to lead complex projects and influence stakeholders across departments.
- Bachelor’s degree required (Computer Science, Information Security, or related field). Relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Excellent Microsoft Office proficiency to create detailed incident reports and policy documents in Word, analyze and present security metrics in Excel, develop executive-level presentations in PowerPoint, and manage communications and scheduling through Outlook.
- Expert with Microsoft security stack, including but not limited to, Defender XDR, Microsoft Sentinel (KQL, analytics, UEBA, SOAR), Defender for Cloud, Purview, Entra ID Protection/Conditional Access, and Intune.
- Excellent data analysis & interpretation skills to investigate complex security incidents, interpret telemetry from multiple sources, and identify patterns or anomalies that indicate potential threats.
- Excellent multitasking & prioritization skills for managing simultaneous incident response activities, architecture reviews, and strategic planning tasks while maintaining focus on critical priorities.
WHAT ADDITIONAL SKILLS ARE AN ASSET
- Bilingual in English and French
- Risk Management Skills
- Knowledge of airport operations, systems, and regulatory environment
- CISSP, CISM, and other relevant cybersecurity designation(s) are considered as assets.
