Waterloo, ON or Richmond Hill, ON - Hybrid on-site Tues to Thurs & Work from home Monday and Friday. Your Impact Reporting to the SVP, Software Engineering – OpenText Business Network, the Senior Director of Engineering will lead the engineering organization responsible for OpenText Business Network’s mission-critical cloud services, including Trading Grid and Alloy. These platforms process millions of B2B transactions daily and are essential to global supply chain and financial integration. This role combines strategic leadership with deep technical expertise to ensure service quality, scalability, and innovation.
What The Role Offers As a Senior Director, Software Development, you will:
- Lead engineering for Trading Grid and all other B2B integration platforms, serving as the primary counterpart for roadmap, new builds, quality, and resiliency.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders: Product Management, Professional Services, Customer Success, Support, Sales, and customers.
- Work with Product Management to iterate on requirements, design, prototypes, and GA product deliveries to achieve defined business outcomes.
- Lead weekly cross-functional review meetings for Trading Grid and Alloy.
- Oversee product quality processes, including exit reports for all Business Network products.
- Drive major initiatives, including MS Classic Migration and Mapping Aviator programs.
- Review and approve roadmap timelines and prioritization across all engineering teams.
- Champion BN Stability Program and ensure uptime and throughput targets are met.
- Participate in major architecture discussions and influence technical direction.
- Decide on infrastructure strategies, including dedicated zones/cells for new customers.
- Manage a global team of ~60 engineers, including 10–12 direct reports (managers and senior managers).
- Drive adoption of AI-first processes to accelerate product development and drive productivity.
- Incorporate AI technologies into services to drive innovation and efficiency.

- On-time roadmap delivery
- Product quality and resiliency
- Successful execution of customer migration programs
- Margin improvement
What You Need To Succeed
- 15+ years of software engineering experience, including 8+ years in leadership roles.
- Proven experience managing large, globally distributed engineering teams.
- Expertise in cloud-based systems handling high transaction volumes.
- Experience developing and managing cloud services on hyperscalers (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Strong technical background with ability to engage in architecture and design discussions.
- Track record of delivering mission-critical services with high availability and performance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in B2B integration or related domains.
- Familiarity with AI/ML technologies and their application in enterprise software.
- Experience migrating major systems to hyperscalers.
- Strong leadership qualities: innovation, operational excellence, continuous improvement.
