Job Description:
POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY:
The Christmas Toy Drive Coordinator coordinates the Community Services Toy Drive and Santa Shuffle during the Christmas season on a full time temporary basis.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Toy Drive
- Oversee the set-up, take-down and organization of toy distribution program.
- Assist the volunteer coordinator, providing training and supervision to volunteers who assist with the Santa Shuffle or Toy Drive.
- Liaise with local businesses, radio stations and the community at large to support the campaign
- Keep an accurate inventory of all donated and purchased toys
- Receive and process donations of toys for distribution and provide assistance with packing and sorting toy donations.
- Secure donations of food/snack foods for volunteers as require
- Manage the recording statistical data in a clear, organized, and accurate manner.
- Answer telephone, manage and/or redirect calls as appropriate
- Complete online applications with clients as required
- Prepare, coordinate and distribute correspondence as required throughout the campaign
- Coordinate team meetings together with the Hamper Campaign
- Complete final campaign report to director to include campaign highlights and recommendations
Santa Shuffle
- Secure donations for prize draws for both the Santa Shuffle and the children’s Elf Walk
- Solicit for participants, volunteers, and donations for goodie bags
- Pick up registrations from Running Room
- Assist in securing volunteers for registration, race marshals, refreshments and assist in packing goodie bags
- Arrange with St. John Ambulance First Aid Volunteers for the race
Perform other position related duties as required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- This is a temporary full-time position based on 40hrs per week.
- Shifts may include days, afternoons, evenings, weekend shifts, and split shifts, Monday through Saturday. Applicable shifts include a ½ hour unpaid meal break.
- Flexibility in scheduling is required, as the hours may increase as per operational requirements.
- Working environment is typically in the office in generally agreeable conditions.
- Ability to lift/move up to 20 lbs. (10 kg).
- Required to wear appropriate Salvation Army identification.
- Local travel is associated with this position, using the program vehicle.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Qualifications and Certifications:
- Completed High School or equivalent
- Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License, personal vehicle required and insurance, current copy of driver’s abstract for review and verification that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:
- A minimum of one (1) year of prior related experience working in community-based programs would be a definite asset.
- Experience in office administration.
- Experience with general office equipment and must have strong skills and experience using word processing (WORD); spread sheet use (EXCEL).

- Treat the property of The Salvation Army with due care and caution.
- Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.
- Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $17.20 to $20.64 with a maximum of $24.77.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
