About the role
Purpose:
Reporting to the Operations Manager, Department of Psychology, Faculty of Health, the Administrative Support role is responsible for providing secretarial/administrative support to the Office of the Chair including providing support with the Chair's calendar. In addition, the Administrative Support role will provide secretarial support to various department committees and meetings.
Education:
Minimum one (1) completed years of Post-Secondary Education.
Experience:
Minimum 1 year recent related experience working in an academic environment including minute taking and providing committee support.
Skills:
Demonstrated Skills Required:
- Effective oral communication to obtain and relay information accurately
- Excellent written communication skills
- Attending accurately to detail
- Experience with managing a calendar
- Effective interpersonal and customer service skills
- Demonstrating initiative
- Exercising good judgment
- Effective organizational skills including ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
- Ability to work effectively in an environment with competing demands and frequent interruptions
- Working effectively both independently and as a member of a team
- Maintaining confidentiality
- Punctual and reliable Technical Skills required:
- Typing 45 words per minute, accuracy essential
- Working knowledge of scheduling meetings using technology (i.e. Zoom)
- Working knowledge of electronic mail and calendar (e.g., Outlook)
- Intermediate MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
