About the role
Valsoft is looking for a Senior Tax Manager to join our global finance team. This role will report to the Group CFO for the portfolio and work closely with the VP, Tax, with primary responsibility for international tax due diligence and M&A support, post-acquisition integration, and cross-border tax structuring.
ABOUT VALSOFT CORP:
Established in Canada in 2015, Valsoft has grown to a global portfolio of 118+ companies, acquiring and developing vertical market software companies, enabling each business to deliver the best mission-critical solutions for customers in their respective industries. A key tenet of Valsoft’s philosophy is to invest in well-established businesses and foster an entrepreneurial environment that molds companies into leaders in their respective industries. Valsoft looks to buy, hold and create value through long-term partnerships with existing management.
INVESTMENT APPROACH:
Unlike private equity and venture capital firms, we are Entrepreneurs who Buy, Enhance and Grow Software Businesses. That’s right; we don’t sell businesses. We form a strategic alliance with existing management teams. We recognize the dedication and perseverance required to create a firm and place a premium on customers’ and workers’ well-being over short-term goals.
CULTURE:
Valsoft is more than just a place to work; we’re a team. We mean it when we say people are our greatest assets, so investing in them is our number one priority. We create an environment where our employees feel first-day-on-the-job excitement, day after day, creating a culture of high performers and collaboration. We celebrate our milestones, and we’re proud of them. We Dream Big, Stay Humble and Stay Hungry.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Senior Tax Manager will play a key leadership role within the portfolio’s tax function, overseeing international tax due diligence and M&A support, post-acquisition integration, and cross-border structuring. The role also includes oversight of transfer pricing initiatives, tax provision and accounting processes, and contributing to automation and process improvements across tax provisions and compliance reporting.
While U.S. tax compliance oversight is part of the position, the focus is on managing external advisors and ensuring accuracy rather than hands-on preparation. The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in cross-border tax planning, M&A, and transfer pricing, with the ability to work collaboratively across global teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Lead tax due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures across multiple jurisdictions.
· Support transaction structuring to optimize tax efficiency and reduce risk.
· Oversee post-acquisition integration and entity rationalization.
· Advise on treaty benefits, withholding tax, and indirect tax implications.
· Manage quarterly and annual tax provisions under IFRS and ASC 740.
· Coordinate automation and improvements in tax provision reporting (Oracle).
· Oversee external providers for U.S. federal, state, and local filings.
· Manage transfer pricing documentation, policy development, and compliance.
· Support audits, dispute resolution, and monitor BEPS Pillar One and Two developments.
· Research new global tax legislation and assess operational impacts.
· Provide tax structuring advice for reorganizations and financing.
· Oversee indirect tax compliance (VAT, GST, sales and use tax).
Requirements
· 8+ years of post-designation experience in corporate or public tax environments.
· CPA or CA designation.
· Strong technical expertise in Canadian and U.S. corporate taxation, transfer pricing, and tax accounting (ASC 740).
· Proven experience with international tax planning, M&A due diligence, and cross-border structuring.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
· Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a global, fast-paced environment.
ADDITIONAL or PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Experience in a multinational, software, or technology organization.
· Familiarity with tax provision software (Oracle).
· Knowledge of OECD Pillar One and Pillar Two implementation.
Benefits
· Collaborative, innovative, and global work environment.
· Remote/flexible work arrangements.
· Professional growth and development opportunities.
· Exposure to international tax strategy and high-impact M&A projects.
Ready to join a collaborative and innovative team where you can make an immediate impact?
