Where leadership meets purpose in the heart of Northern Ontario

Mattawa Hospital is a 19-bed bilingual hospital serving the residents of Mattawa, East Nipissing, and surrounding communities. Guided by the vision “Together, Guided by Medicine, Inspired by Faith, in a Place called Home,” we deliver compassionate, quality care rooted in community and respect. Sponsored by the Catholic Health Sponsors of Ontario, our hospital is licensed under the Ministry of Health and proudly accredited by Accreditation Canada.

Why Join Mattawa Hospital?

  • Meaningful Impact: Your work directly supports care for patients and families in Northern Ontario.
  • Collaborative Culture: Join a close-knit leadership team where your ideas matter.
  • Community and Purpose: Live and work in a supportive, scenic community where healthcare is deeply personal.

The Opportunity

If you’re a finance leader who values community, collaboration, and the chance to make a tangible impact, this is your opportunity to lead with purpose.

As Assistant Vice President, Finance and Corporate Services, you will play a pivotal role on our management team, overseeing both financial and operational functions across Mattawa Hospital and the Algonquin Nursing Home. You’ll guide Finance, Payroll, Accounts Payable/Receivable, IT, and Information Management, ensuring these vital areas work seamlessly in support of our mission and care delivery.

Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Services and CFO, you’ll provide strategic leadership, promote operational excellence, and nurture a culture grounded in accountability, safety, and service. You’ll also directly lead a dedicated team of four professionals—two at the hospital and two at the nursing home, and participate in our Management on Call rotation.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and Strategize: Provide financial and operational leadership that strengthens the hospital’s long-term sustainability and supports exceptional patient care.
  • Inspire and Mentor: Empower teams across Finance, IT, and Operations, fostering collaboration, growth, and accountability.
  • Drive Excellence: Champion compliance, quality, and safety standards while proactively addressing operational challenges.
  • Build Partnerships : Cultivate strong relationships with staff, community partners, and stakeholders to support shared goals and community well-being.

About You

You are a collaborative, hands-on leader who brings both financial expertise and a people-first approach. You thrive in dynamic environments and care deeply about contributing to your community. With a strong foundation in finance, you balance strategic vision with operational know-how, and you lead with integrity, empathy, and purpose.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field
  • CPA or CA designation in good standing
  • 3–5 years of management experience in health care or a related sector
  • Proven leadership in coaching, mentorship, and team performance
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
  • Criminal Reference Check – Vulnerable Sector (required)
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (subject to accommodation under the Ontario Human Rights Code)
