We are currently recruiting for a Float Legal Assistant with 3+ years of experience to join our talented team of legal support staff. Recent commercial litigation experience is required. Labour and employment experience is considered an asset.

This is a permanent and full-time position, hours will be Monday through Friday, 8.30am to 4:30pm. Responsibilities

Provides relief coverage for employee absences and overflow support. Manages files from opening to closing including organization and filing all correspondence. Inbox management, tracks, and files email correspondence in an efficient manner. Calendar management maintains lawyer’s calendar and a reliable bring forward (BF) system. Diarizes dates independently with respect to client files and practice management. Prepares and drafts various legal documents including pleadings and correspondence. Prepares monthly accounts and expense reports. Coordinates lawyer’s administrative tasks and marketing initiatives. Consults with internal and external legal professionals and clients regarding file progress.

Qualifications

A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Legal Assistant. Recent experience working in commercial litigation required. Experience with labour and employment considered an asset. Graduate of an accredited Legal Assistant program. An equivalent level of experience will be considered in lieu of education. In-depth knowledge of legal procedures. Strong technical skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe, and BC Online. Experience with Acumin and iManage is an asset.

Excellent written communication skills (spelling, grammar, composition)

Strong organization skills and attention to detail. The ability to manage a high-volume of tasks and competing priorities. The ability to exercise sound professional judgement, discretion, and confidentiality. Ability to balance and prioritize a high-volume workload and handle routine tasks with little supervision. Dedication and commitment to providing outstanding service to clients.
