About the role

Summary of Duties

Hematology and Coagulation Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) activities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide technical, scientific education, and supportive services to assist in the provision of patient care.

  • Performs routine automated and manual testing in Haematology, Coagulation, and verifies/interprets laboratory results.

  • It is essential to promote activities that enhance best practice for quality of service and a safe working environment.

Qualifications/Skills

  • Current C.M.L.T.O. Registration as a General Medical Laboratory Technologist required
  • Recent Haematology experience - required
  • Recent Morphology experience - preferred
  • Demonstrated theoretical and practical knowledge in Haematology and Coagulation
  • Demonstrate sound knowledge of Quality Control theory and its application in troubleshooting
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work as a part of a team and independently as required
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Flexibility/adaptability required
  • Experience with laboratory instrumentation and middleware preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of CQI
  • Knowledge of quality assurance practices
  • Knowledge of Accreditation Canada Diagnostics.
  • Computer skills required.
  • Proficiency in WORD, EXCEL, and PowerPoint required
