Job Description
Position Overview:
Works independently and as a team member with the Infection Control Director, Medical Director, and Infection Control Committee to prevent and control transmission of infections, consistent with current best practices and standards. Provides infection prevention and control consultation for Halton Healthcare staff, physicians, volunteers, patients and families as required.
This is what you will be doing:

Perform surveillance activities, collect, collate, analyze and interpret data to facilitate prevention and control of hospital associated infections, outbreaks, adverse events and other outcomes of epidemiological significance and implement control measures as required. Develop and provide education and training in infection prevention and control to healthcare providers, physicians and volunteers.

Conduct follow-up on all exposure situations; coordinates and provides leadership in outbreak management.

Assess, analyze and implement protocols and practices in compliance with provincial and federal infection control directives and guidelines.

Act as a liaison and subject matter expert to all external and internal stakeholders.

Develop and communicate policies, best practice guidelines and provide education to patients/staff and physicians.

Participate in quality improvement, patient safety and change management and implement infection control measures as determined by the Infection Control Committee.
Qualifications

Current registration as a regulated health professional in Nursing or Medical Laboratory Technology or related field

Experience as an Infection Control Clinician in a healthcare setting preferred
-
Completion of an entry Level 1 Infection Control course (Infection Prevention and Control -Canada or American Practitioners in Infection Control sponsored)
-
CIC certification from the Certification Board of Infection Control (CBIC) preferred
-
Excellent report writing, computer skills and familiarity with multiple software programs for data entry, statistical analysis and report writing purposes required
-
Satisfactory attendance and employment record.

A valid driver’s license required for travel between Halton Healthcare hospitals and multiple clinic sites
Additional Information
Hours: Monday to Sunday; 7.5 hour shifts
Salary: $51.480 to $60.610 per hour
