About the role
Position Summary We are seeking an experienced TBM Electrical Supervisor to support the full lifecycle of Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) operations—from manufacturing follow-up and factory testing to onsite installation, commissioning, and tunnel excavation support. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in TBM electrical systems, including power distribution, PLCs (preferably Siemens), and high-voltage equipment. This role requires strong leadership, hands-on technical skills, and the ability to work in complex underground environments.
The TBM Electrical Supervisor Key Responsibilities Are Pre-Tunnel Excavation Phase:

Coordinate with TBM manufacturers and participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).

Attend training sessions at supplier factories to gain in-depth understanding of TBM systems.

Support reception, unloading, and storage of TBMs in Canada.

Maintain TBMs during storage and ensure readiness for deployment.

Supervise installation of TBM Site Supporting Facilities, including temporary power setups.

Assist in the transportation and positioning of TBMs at the jobsite.

Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems including:

Power distribution

PLC control systems
-
Instrumentation and monitoring systems
Tunnel Excavation Phase
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on TBM electrical systems to reduce downtime.
- Troubleshoot and repair real-time electrical faults to support continuous TBM operations.
- Maintain accurate logs of inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
- Work closely with mechanical, civil, and operational teams for integrated TBM performance.
- Manage inventory of electrical components and coordinate procurement.
- Enforce electrical safety standards and participate in safety meetings and drills.
Education And Qualification
- Licensed Electrician in Ontario or equivalent certification.
- Siemens PLC training or certification (Simatic Step 7 and TIA Portal) preferred.
- Training in confined space entry, electrical safety, and lockout/tagout protocols.
- Minimum 10 years of electrical supervision experience.
- At least 5 years working directly with TBMs or heavy tunneling equipment.
- Experience in large-scale transit or infrastructure tunnel projects.
Job Requirements
- Expert knowledge of TBM electrical systems, including PLCs, VFDs, and HV systems.
- Proficient in Siemens Simatic Step 7 and TIA Portal for diagnostics and programming.
- Familiarity with Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and relevant safety regulations.
- Proven leadership and team coordination abilities.
- Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Comfortable working in confined spaces and underground conditions.
- Availability to work shifts, weekends, and respond to emergencies as required.
