ADGA is currently hiring an experienced Senior Windows System Administrator (10 years+ experience) with strong virtualization background, MS Exchange as well as System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM) with at least 5+ years experience in supporting the Canadian Military in areas such as the Land Command Support System, Land Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (LC4ISR) systems.
As the Technical Authority for the Virtual Training and Experimentation Network VTEN, our client in Kingston requires a senior system administrator to execute third and fourth line support the Canadian Army’s VTEN.
Tasks will include:
- Setting up the VTEN staging area within the DND facility in Kingston where engineers develop, integrate and test modeling and simulation software solutions that is then transferred to the production network on VTEN, where the training solutions are utilized by the Canadian Army across Canada and beyond.
- While in service, the VTEN requires security patching, updating software and the network will require expansion to new sites within the Army’s desired new locations, the senior system administrator, as part of the DND contractor team, will provide support from its tier 3rd or 4th line role which means support that is beyond the capabilities of the supported units.
- This requires a complete understanding of the technologies behind the networks from the hardware and software utilized to the protocols that support the network.
Qualifications
- Proof of STEM Bachelor's Degree or College Diploma (2 years minimum) in networking, software, computer, systems, electrical, or a suitable engineering or technical field required to support Land C4ISR. (Command, Control, Computer, Communications, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance)
- Minimum 5 years experience as a System Specialist on Military C4ISR systems. (mandatory to qualify for this position - as per DND contract)
- Minimum 8 years experience within the last 10 years in the preparation of technical concept documents, system specifications, and technical proposals in the field of Information Technology / Information management or engineering.
- Minimum 8 years experience within the last 10 years in system engineering in a minimum of 4 of this assessment area’s criteria below:
- Demonstrated work experience in planning, configuring, employing and managing command and control communication and information systems in a distributed platform environment or within a client/server environment, or ISTAR systems.
- Demonstrated work experience in identifying, analyzing and resolving complex communication and information system and/or ISTAR system problems.
- Demonstrated work experience in analyzing, designing and/or implementing solutions for communication and information systems or ISTAR systems.
- Demonstrated work experience in developing and documenting system management solutions (tools and processes) for command-and-control communication and information systems in mobile platforms or within a client/server environment, or ISTAR systems.
- Demonstrated work experience in system integration, verification and validation, for hardware and software components (COTS and/or custom developed) in new or existing systems.
- Demonstrated work experience in life-cycle management of tactical communication and information systems, or ISTAR systems.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in at least 4 of this assessment area’s criteria:

Communicating information technology frameworks/strategies to management and technical staff.

Communicating system engineering direction for projects or systems.

Providing advice, guidance and recommendations on technical issues to support the decision-making of senior management.

Additional Information
- Most of the work will be conducted at the Kingston location but short periods of travel to new sites in support of the VTEN expansion effort is to be expected.
- Must have a valid Secret level security clearance with PSPC and a Controlled Goods Certificate.
