The City is seeking a Senior Strategic Policy Consultant who will play a pivotal role in our Investment and Marketing Division. This is your opportunity to help shape the future of Greater Downtown Calgary and have a little fun along the way. You will report to the Leader of Public Investment and Advocacy, whose portfolio spans public investment and advocacy, governance, analytics, financial analysis, collaborations, supporting capital investment funding, program management and delivery, and communication. You will work collaboratively to identify and pursue future funding opportunities, optimize public investment and implement a program execution function to support the coordination of public investment throughout Downtown Calgary. Primary duties include:
- Provide professional and objective strategy policy advice to senior leadership regarding public investment and advocacy opportunities for Downtown Calgary.
- Lead complex policy development related to municipal policy, government advocacy, and collaboration with interested parties.
- Leverage emerging socio-economic data and investment trends, identify, develop, and implement detailed plans and recommendations regarding program-specific requirements.
- Identify cross-corporate and cross-sector collaborations, including the provincial government federal government, and interest holders.
- Develop overall strategies, vision and implementation plans and ensures these are communicated and understood by all parties.
Qualifications
- A Degree in public policy, social science, economics, business administration or a related field.
- At least 5 years of relevant and combined experience in policy research, analysis and development in fields such as government advocacy, strategic policy, capital investment, program implementation, and real estate investment.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Experience in achieving outcomes in high-value, fast-moving complex projects; specific experience in capital investment, finance, advocacy, or real estate investment will be considered an asset.
- Demonstrated strategic thinking abilities, change management skills, and exceptional communication skills.

Compensation: Pay Grade 12 $48.54 - $64.88 per hour
Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week earning 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
