What is the opportunity?
The Margin Operations Analyst is a key contributor within the U.S. Wealth Management Margin Operations team. This role supports the firm’s margin platform by monitoring client activity, improving operational workflows, and assisting in the development and rollout of margin-related enhancements.
You will combine operational accuracy, risk awareness, and technical aptitude to ensure margin processes are efficient and compliant. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable with data analysis, and eager to contribute to automation and modernization initiatives that improve both client experience and firm risk management.
What You’ll Do
Reporting & Data Analysis
- Build and maintain operational and risk reports to track margin exposure, account trends, and SLA metrics.
- Utilize SQL and Excel to query, validate, and reconcile data across internal systems (e.g., Ascendis, Broadridge, data warehouse).
- Identify opportunities to streamline manual reporting and partner with IT to develop automated dashboards.
- Ensure data integrity across systems and reports through periodic validation and exception testing.
- Participate in risk related conversations and implement points of concern to remediate risk events.
Testing, Projects & Initiative Support
- Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) for new margin rules, workflows, and platform enhancements.
- Document test results, identify issues, and assist in remediation efforts.
- Support initiative rollout by updating Standard Work Procedures (SWPs), conducting user training, and monitoring post-implementation performance.
- Collaborate with project managers, developers, and business analysts to define requirements and validate solutions.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Accounting, or related discipline.
- Intermediate to advanced SQL skills and proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, macros).
- Experience with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) and operational data visualization.
- Experience with database applications
- 1–3 years of experience in margin operations, securities operations, or data analysis within a financial institution.
- Working knowledge of margin regulations (Reg T, FINRA 4210, 15c3-3) and operational controls.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams.
- Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment and contribute to process improvement efforts.
- FINRA Series 7 or 99 (or willingness to obtain).
Nice to Have
- Experience with Broadridge, Ascendis, or equivalent margin platforms.
- Exposure to T+1 processing, automation, or margin dashboard development.
The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $65,000 - $115,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs. This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
