About the role

As a member of the In-House Electronics Team, you will work on delivering hardware functional testing capability for our Electronic Control Units (ECU) at our module factories and environmental labs throughout the ECU development lifecycle. During the module development lifecycle, your focus will vary from definition of hardware test requirements and test systems early on, to implementing and bringing up test readiness/capability and stabilization/validation of test methods, to continuous improvement and support of quality issues from warranty or vehicle factories during mass production. The successful candidate will work with the design team to ensure that the test solutions deliver the highest product quality, meet the needs of future electronic modules, and achieve best-in-class cost of test.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • 3-year college diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology or a related field of study.

Experience:

  • 10+ years of Manufacturing Test Development and/or Product Engineering Experience in a high-volume electronics manufacturing facility. 3+ years developing/debugging with TestStand.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field of study.

Experience:

  • Proven experience defining and implementing manufacturing test requirements for electronic devices, coupled with a detailed understanding of test system design.
  • Proficient in problem resolution methodologies (e.g., 5D/8D, RCCA, 5-Why).
  • Hardware and software debugging skills, complemented by excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of automotive technologies, including CAN, Automotive Ethernet, Audio, Displays, Cameras, and Cellular/WIFI/BT RF.
  • Experience with Boundary Scan/JTAG, chip programming, and software downloads for electronic modules.
  • Familiarity with SMT Processes and Qualcomm tools.
  • Experience utilizing Jira for project management. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a self-motivated and proactive approach.

The primary responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Define manufacturing test requirements by analyzing product features and the HW design for cost efficiency and reliability while ensuring outgoing quality with no test coverage gaps.
  • Design and implement test systems for early factory prototype builds as well high-volume test systems for mass production.
  • Work with 3rd party test system development companies to outsource the design of the test systems if required.
  • Create test coverage plans, test time estimates, yield estimates, and test limits.
  • Drive the bring up, validation, and stabilization of module manufacturing test and programming processes.
  • Solve complex yield and quality issues which require a detailed understanding of product and test system design.
  • Review warranty and quality issues driving the factory to root cause and corrective actions to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Support sustaining of in-life module production
  • Yield and quality attainment by the factory.
  • Bringing up new production sites for additional capacity.
  • Support identification and resolution of part changes/substations impact on factory processes.
  • Drive improvements to the design of the test systems based on feedback.
  • Provide training, mentoring and technical support to the factories on the modules and test systems.
  • Travel to suppliers’ factories as needed.
