About the role
We have an exciting full-time opportunity for an Assistant News Director to join our news team supporting our radio and digital products in Ontario, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. We are looking for an experienced journalist who can share that knowledge with our growing news team.
Acadia Broadcasting is a growing media company with radio stations in Atlantic Canada and Northwestern Ontario. In each of our markets, our company focuses on being the community’s local voice for entertainment, news, and events.
Here’s what you will be doing:
- Assisting in the supervision of a 15-person news team including assignments, monitoring quality, scheduling, setting policy, and performance
- Training and onboarding of new team members
- Creating stories for radio and digital with a hyper local focus
- You will be part of a rotational weekend on-call schedule
Here’s what we are looking for:
- You have 5 years’ experience as a reporter and radio anchor
- You have strong strong interviewing, writing, and editing skills for digital and broadcast
- You have a knowledge of CP style guide
- A self-starter who can work in a fast-paced environment and an ability to meet tight deadlines, including breaking news outside regular office hours
- A Journalism or Digital Media diploma, or equivalent relevant experience
- Knowledge and experience with industry software including Burli and Wordpress would be considered an asset
- A valid driver’s license
