About the role

Community Support Professional, Supported Independent Living (SIL) NOC 42201 Internal Posting #2026-14 One (1) Full-time (40 hours per week) Permanent Position Available This is a new position Barrie, Ontario with travel throughout Simcoe Camphill Communities Ontario currently has one (1) Full Time permanent position available in our SIL program. You will be supporting individuals in their own homes in a wide variety of living situations within the local community. The scheduled hours of this position are modified to the needs of the individuals, this means the hours would be a combination of days, evenings and weekends. Summary: The SIL staff provides supervision and support as needed to people with developmental disabilities in their own homes and within the community to work towards their goals, teaching life skills, community integration and social skills that assist with daily living. Requirements: Demonstrate a caring, supportive approach that maintains the dignity and integrity of people receiving services. Knowledgeable about and experienced in mental health and best practices in supporting people with those concerns Knowledge of available and relevant community resources Be able to utilize a personal outcome philosophy-based approach to support individuals in making informed choices that lead to successful attainment of their goals and aspirations Able to inform Individuals about options, and provide opportunities and experiences, supports the exercise of choice and educates about risks and benefits Demonstrated knowledge of Personal Outcome Measures in supporting Individuals to develop a plan and achieve their goals Demonstrated Understand the importance of empowering people to support themselves to be healthy, happy and safe Perceptiveness and ability to resolve conflicts diplomatically and reasonably. Demonstrate initiative, be resourceful and creative. Work independently and collaboratively within the team and with the organization. Promote practices that are inclusive, respectful and sensitive to diverse communities, including age, culture, and language. Monitor and promote practices that support peoples’ health and safety. Design, implement and monitor the progress of activity and recreational programs consistent with people’s Support Plans that will enhance the physical, mental and psychosocial well-being of people Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; Planning skills, flexibility Dependability, reliability To advocate for and respects confidentiality at all times. To apply appropriate responses to unpredictable behaviour. To maintain all required program records and documentation. A willingness to learn with and from people with disabilities Be open to continuous learning as required Support other relevant duties that may be developed or assigned by the supervisor. A demonstrated maturity and desire to work with adults with developmental disabilities within the Camphill Philosophy Excellent communication, listening and interpersonal skills and effective documentation skills. Intermediate computer skills; MS Office, BambooHR, Inclusion, AIMS or other data base management platforms Perform other duties as required to meet the needs of the Individuals Supported, Community and CCO Education and Experience: DSW College Diploma or 2+ year diploma or degree in Human Services from an accredited post-secondary institution with a focus on human development and/or behaviour Three (3) years’ experience working with people with intellectual disabilities. Successfully trained in and possess current certifications in First Aid & CPR, NVC, and Medication Administration Hold a valid Ontario G Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract, and have access to a reliable vehicle with sufficient insurance. Able to provide a current (within 6 months’) satisfactory Criminal Background Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening. Hourly Rate Range: $25.30 to $27.16 per hour.
