About the role

You've reached elite performance before—in competition, on stage, or in your career. Now you're positioned to channel that excellence into impact. As an academic coach at GT Anywhere, you'll help students achieve what seems impossible: embrace learning, accelerate their progress, and develop into confident, independent thinkers. All from wherever you choose to work.

GT Anywhere operates as a virtual school serving gifted students prepared to advance rapidly. We integrate AI-driven curriculum with personalized coaching to provide what conventional education cannot: unbounded learning speed, rigorous exploration across sciences and humanities, and connection with intellectual equals. In the role of Academic Coach, you'll support K–8 students determined to move faster. Content instruction isn't your responsibility—technology manages that. You're the guide who cultivates confidence, maintains high expectations, and reveals to students their true potential. Each conversation is significant. Each insight creates momentum.

If you've previously driven yourself toward exceptional achievement—in athletics, performance arts, research, or commerce—and now seek to empower the rising generation, this position is designed for you.

What You Will Be Doing

Conducting biweekly one-on-one virtual coaching conversations with each student, centered on academic planning, motivation, and growth mindset Hosting open office hours where students can drop in for immediate support, encouragement, or problem-solving Leveraging AI platforms and performance dashboards to monitor student advancement, spot obstacles, and refine your coaching methods Recording observations, concerns, and tactical updates to keep each student progressing on an accelerated learning path Partnering with fellow coaches to exchange best practices, flag issues requiring escalation, and continuously refine the coaching framework

What You Won’t Be Doing

Instructing lessons, evaluating assessments, or distributing homework—technology manages the academic content Presenting lectures or adhering to a prescribed syllabus Supervising or controlling unmotivated students—we guide and inspire, not micromanage Enduring redundant meetings or administrative red tape Operating on autopilot—this team exists for professionals committed to performing at elite levels and creating real impact

Academic Coach Key Responsibilities

Basic Requirements

Master's degree in any field

At least 1 year of experience coaching, mentoring, or motivating K–8 students At least 6 months working with gifted students in an educational, coaching, or mentoring setting Proven high performance in any field—academics, athletics, entrepreneurship, or the arts Strong virtual presence and ability to connect with students quickly over Zoom/Google Meet Comfortable using dashboards and tech tools to track and adjust performance Ability to maintain at least 80 percent overlap with US business hours

𝑵𝒐𝒕𝒆: Crossover jobs are are fully compliant with LinkedIn's policies, as well as the applicable laws in every country where we advertise.

Allow us to clarify some common misconceptions:
1) The reason we post so many job ads is because LinkedIn organizes all job postings by location. So, the only way to reach candidates all over the world is to post multiple ads in every city you want to hire from. Most recruiters don't bother because it's too time consuming... but we're not most recruiters.
2) We mostly recruit independent contractors, not employees, because labor laws vary so much from one country to another that it's near-impossible to recruit globally otherwise (which is why it's still uncommon even though most jobs can now be done remotely).
3) As is standard for any self-employed person, the stated pay is the entire compensation package. Because they are not employees, each contractor is responsible for handling the things that an employer would take care of e.g. taxes, equipment, vacation time, health insurance. One of the major reasons that Crossover jobs pay so much more than local jobs is to overcompensate for these costs.

It's hard, but it's worth it!
