Responsibilities

The Administrative Assistant/Office Assistant reports to the Chief of Gynaecology and Chair / Chief, Obstetrics & Gynaecology and will oversee and coordinate the scheduling of surgical time in the OR for the department’s surgeons. The Administrative Assistant will have a good working knowledge of how clinical physicians have OR time allocated to them and work closely with several physicians.

Qualifications:

Education: Community College Diploma in an administrative/medical field. University degree in a related discipline preferred

Experience:

  • 5 years of experience in a medical office setting
  • understanding of gynaecologic terminology
  • familiarity with OBGYN and LHSC policies and procedures

Skills, Abilities & Expertise:

  • performing general office procedures
  • answering telephones,
  • booking new appointments
  • following up with reminder calls
  • coordinating and organizing clinics
  • coordinating referrals,
  • liaising and working with residents and physicians
  • follow-up and complete orders for patients on behalf of resident/physician as directed
