About the role
NATURE OF WORK:
The principal and customary work of the employee in this employment class consists in assisting the teaching personnel in the preparation, presentation, supervision and evaluation of laboratory work, field work and workshops.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor and provide appropriate assistance to students in the following languages: French, English, Italian, Spanish, and German;
- Oversee the operation and supervision of the laboratories;
- Assist teachers in developmental work related to the Language Laboratory;
- Provide support to teacher in the use of language lab equipment;
- Interact with and assist students with language difficulties as appropriate;
- Assist in the administration of Language Placement and other testing in the Language Laboratory;
- Arrange student lab appointments;
- Prepare Languages Lab Schedule;
- Ensure that attendance system is ready for students;
- Submit student attendance data to teachers;
- Maintain equipment performing minor cleaning, repair and adjustments and/or placing service calls as needed;
- Maintain an inventory of resources and supplies. Preparation media and methods; digitize audio and video material;
- Install and test language computer programs;
- Research available technologies and resources;
- Perform other related duties.
Requirements :
QUALIFICATIONS:
To have a diploma of college studies (DEC) in an appropriate specialty or a diploma or an attestation of studies which is recognized as equivalent by the competent authority.
CONDITIONS:
- Advanced knowledge in English and French, written and oral, (testing may be required)
- Excellent familiarity with the use of computers for language instruction
- Basic skills in Word and Excel (testing may be required)
- Knowledge of MS Access would be an asset
- Intermediate to Advanced knowledge in Spanish, Italian or German would be an asset
- Knowledge of Greek, Hebrew and Mandarin would be an asset

It is situated near the heart of downtown Montreal in a former nunnery on approximately 12 acres of green space. It is the largest CEGEP in the province of Quebec, with a student population of approximately 8,000 day students and 3,000 evening students enrolled in more than 30 fields of study.
