Reporting to the Children, Youth and Families Education Coordinator, the Educator is responsible for the delivery of the educational programs within the After School Program (A.S.P.)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support student’s completion of homework
- Assess individual student’s academic needs
- Support individual education plans for concerned participants
- Support children’s acquisition of Executive functions and socio emotional learning skills
- Promote a positive learning environment
- Promote positive individual and group behaviour
- Ensure positive interpersonal working relationships with parents, team members, volunteers and children
- Support and integrate volunteers/interns during the programs Efficiently complete all administrative tools and tasks assigned by Education Coordinator
- Actively participate and come prepared for supervisory meetings and staff meetings
- Ensure the equipment, material and supplies are properly used and stored
Qualifications:
- CEGEP degree in a related field or relevant experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in child animation and program planning
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Knowledge of issues facing children in marginalized communities
- Strong understanding of and ability to support child development
- Strong organization skills, ability to delegate, multi-task and manage time Facility with the computer
- Ability to communicate in French and English Must be a team-player; learning, working and communicating with other staff members is essential
Job Conditions:
- $19,00 per hour.
- Hours: Monday -Thursday 1:30-6:00 (total of 18 hours per week). Some flexibility required.
