Description

  • Reporting to the Children, Youth and Families Education Coordinator, the Educator is responsible for the delivery of the educational programs within the After School Program (A.S.P.)

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Support student’s completion of homework
    • Assess individual student’s academic needs
    • Support individual education plans for concerned participants
    • Support children’s acquisition of Executive functions and socio emotional learning skills
    • Promote a positive learning environment
    • Promote positive individual and group behaviour
    • Ensure positive interpersonal working relationships with parents, team members, volunteers and children
    • Support and integrate volunteers/interns during the programs Efficiently complete all administrative tools and tasks assigned by Education Coordinator
    • Actively participate and come prepared for supervisory meetings and staff meetings
    • Ensure the equipment, material and supplies are properly used and stored

    Qualifications:

    • CEGEP degree in a related field or relevant experience
    • Minimum 3 years of experience in child animation and program planning
    • Effective written and oral communication skills
    • Knowledge of issues facing children in marginalized communities
    • Strong understanding of and ability to support child development
    • Strong organization skills, ability to delegate, multi-task and manage time Facility with the computer
    • Ability to communicate in French and English Must be a team-player; learning, working and communicating with other staff members is essential

    Job Conditions:

    • $19,00 per hour.
    • Hours: Monday -Thursday 1:30-6:00 (total of 18 hours per week). Some flexibility required.
