This position is full-time, Monday to Friday, with flexible hours in Nova Scotia, and is exclusively on-site.
What will your day-to-day look like?
- Design, develop, and maintain IT systems dedicated to manufacturing process automation.
- Create and program intuitive and efficient human-machine interfaces (HMIs) for operators and managers.
- Manage and analyze production data using databases and data management tools.
- Integrate and configure machine signals using various communication protocols (Profinet, OPC, Modbus).
- Collaborate with operations and information technology teams to identify needs and propose appropriate solutions.
- Monitor technology to stay up to date on new trends and technologies in the field of automation.
- Write technical documentation and train staff on new systems and tools.
What do you need to be successful?
- Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Significant experience in designing and programming IT systems for the manufacturing sector, with 5 years of experience
- Proficiency in programming languages (C#, Java, Python) and associated development environments
- In-depth knowledge of communication protocols and automation systems
- Database management and data analysis skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Basic project management skills
- Knowledge of networking and industrial infrastructure (OT)
- Knowledge of web applications
- Experience with industrial software and hardware such as PLC, HMI, and SCADA (Siemens: WinCC TIA Portal, Ignition)
Although this position is part of a French-speaking work environment, it requires a working knowledge of English to read and understand specialized instructions, plans, drawings and technical terms that may emanate from international organizations, as well as to write and sometimes communicate in English with customers, suppliers or international colleagues
