As a Building Information Modelling (BIM) Coordinator, you will collaborate with members of the project team and the Design Technology team to ensure that Design Technology/BIM execution plan, processes and standards are being used and followed. Using your understanding of construction methods, you will develop consistent and thorough models, content libraries and will manage the overall health of the model. You will coordinate and communicate with the project team to ensure the model is correctly integrated into the project. You will oversee clash detection processes to avoid any interferences between different systems and components in the model.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Serves as a liaison between design teams and discipline leads, clarifying project standards and expectations
- Implements design technology processes, ensuring adherence to standards, guidelines, and protocols
- Performs, reviews and sorts interference conditions for all disciplines in selected projects, and tracks clash resolution through tracking tools
- Conducts data checks such as incomplete parameters, missing type marks and mismatched phase filters
- Performs coordination tasks, which include but are not limited to model auditing and maintenance, errors and warnings, duplicated elements, data integrity, model troubleshooting and BIM Collaborate Pro file management
- Regularly coordinates models exchange ensuring that updated models are published/uploaded in time for coordination meetings
- Leads coordination meetings in accordance with project schedules, to review open issues from previous meetings, presents new clashes, unmodeled elements or data gaps
- Assists the process of virtually constructing a 3D model with project teams
- Provides support and troubleshooting related to model issues
- Manages automation of manual tasks in projects
- Reports any model issues, areas of improvement, or required team training to the Design Technology team
- Assists the Design Technology team in the implementation of selected new technologies
- Assists in streamlining the processes by training team members on how to use all design software effectively
Required Skills
- Experience in BIM modelling, drafting and coordination
- Working knowledge of Revit for architectural design
- Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro is an asset
- Knowledge of BIM processes; understanding of common building components and assembly
- Have successfully completed post-secondary education in Engineering, Architecture, or specialized BIM certifications
- CANBIM certification is an asset
- Security clearance with PSPC, RCMP, DND and/or other authorities may be required
Required Experience
- 4-7 years of work experience
