Mon - Thurs: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Friday: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
**Term:**May 4, 2026 - August 21, 2026
**Location:**Based out of the Grasslands Central Office in Brooks
Travel to multiple school locations throughout the division will be required.

ABOUT THE POSITION:
We are seeking two Technology Summer Workers to support the Grasslands Technology Department in preparing for the 2026/2027 school year.
This position offers hands-on experience in IT infrastructure deployment in a large educational environment. This is ideal experience for students or recent graduates pursuing studies in Information Technology, Computer Systems, Networking, or related programs.
Working both independently and as part of a team, the primary focus of this role will be supporting thetechnology infrastructure launch at the new Brooks Junior High School, as well as assisting with technology installations and upgrades across other schools in the division.
Travel to various school sites will be required to assist with infrastructure work including cabling, device setup, and classroom technology deployment. Qualifying mileage will be reimbursed in accordance with Grasslands’ travel reimbursement policy.

We have three elementary school locations within the City of Brooks and seven rural locations throughout the County of Newell in addition to seven colony school locations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with network infrastructure installation to support reliable internet connectivity throughout schools
- Set up computer labs and classroom technology, including desktops, laptops, and peripherals
- Run and organizing cabling for security camera systems and network equipment
- Unbox, prepare, and provision Chromebooks for student and classroom use
- Assist with technology installations, equipment setup, and infrastructure upgrades across school locations
- Perform other technology-related tasks and maintenance as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current enrollment in, or recent completion of, a program related to Information Technology, Networking, Computer Systems, or a related field is considered an asset
- Previous experience with IT infrastructure deployment or maintenance is an asset
- Basic Technological aptitude and ability to perform routine maintenance tasks
- Ability to use hand tools and operate basic technology and related equipment safely
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety
- Good organizational skills and ability to manage tasks efficiently
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
IDEAL CANDIDATE SKILLS & ABILITIES
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Strong interest and aptitude in IT infrastructure and technology systems
- A willingness to learn new technical skills and take initiative
- Ability to follow instructions and communicate technical issues clearly
- Reliability, punctuality, and strong organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety standards
- Ability to safely operate hand tools and basic technology equipment
- Ability to identify potential hazards and follow safe work procedures in accordance with Grasslands and Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) protocols
- Uphold responsible, respectful, and professional conduct in alignment with the division’s policies, values, and expectations.
This position requires the ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including:
- Working in tight or awkward positions
- Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning, and reaching
- Lifting, carrying, pulling, and pushing equipment
- Periods of prolonged standing or sitting

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

- Must be the original document issued within the last six months
