We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time temporary Quality Manufacturing Specialist to join our Food Safety Quality Assurance team.

This temporary position is expected to last 12 months.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Operation Quality, you will be responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of food safety and quality programs across Pattison Food Group’s manufacturing facilities and commissary kitchens. In this role, you will work at various PFG sites as needed, ensuring compliance with food safety standards and contributing to the continuous improvement of quality assurance practices.

This role requires availability to work from Monday to Friday, with flexibility to work day shifts with variable start times (start time anywhere from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.). The successful candidate will be required to work on site at our facilities in Chilliwack and Burnaby. Travel to other facilities within the lower mainland will be on an as-needed basis.

You will be responsible for:

  • Supporting a unique and varied range of food safety and quality assurance functions across PFG manufacturing facilities and commissary kitchens.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to determine and establish food safety and quality assurance program requirements.
  • Performing product inspections at PFG facilities, following established guidelines for acceptable quality standards, partnering with operations on product disposition, and logging inspection results using appropriate forms and systems on a daily and ongoing basis.
  • Administering customer complaints by managing intake, logging and tracking issues, supporting investigations, facilitating resolution, and responding to customers.
  • Reporting on key performance indicators with accuracy to support trend analysis and continuous improvement.
  • Conducting periodic site inspections to ensure conformance to established standards, communicating findings to facility management, and assisting with the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Identifying and supporting training initiatives to ensure team members follow food safety and quality assurance procedures.
  • Staying current on food safety and quality trends, issues, and initiatives within the food industry.

You have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in microbiology, food science, public health, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in food safety, auditing, manufacturing, regulatory compliance, or a similar role.
  • A strong understanding of HACCP, CFIA regulations, provincial food premise regulations, and GFSI standards.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
  • The ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50lbs on a repetitive basis.
  • Experience with Power BI is an asset.
  • HACCP certification is an asset.
  • GFSI-recognized scheme (i.e. SQF) training/certification is considered an asset.
  • A driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle with the ability to travel to other sites. Mileage reimbursement will be provided.

  • Able to work independently and as part of a dynamic team in a fast-paced multi-temperature warehouse environment.
  • Analytical, solution-focused, and confident in writing clear, impactful reports.
  • Knowledgeable about the food industry and skilled at managing operational challenges in both manufacturing and retail environments.

$74,029.00 - $92,536.00

The compensation offered for this position will take into consideration location, education, skills, experience and other factors.
