Overview:

Position Summary

The Automotive Accessory Installer Technician is responsible for installing OEM approved accessories and aftermarket enhancements on new and preowned vehicles. This role ensures all accessory installations meet manufacturer specifications, dealership quality standards, and safety requirements. The ideal candidate has strong technical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced automotive environment.

Responsibilities and Qualifications:

Key Responsibilities

  • Install OEM and dealership approved accessories such as remote starters, running boards, tonneau covers, lighting upgrades, electronics, towing equipment, lift kits, wheels/tires, and interior enhancements.
  • Follow OEM installation procedures to ensure accuracy, safety, and compliance with warranty requirements.
  • Review work orders, confirm accessory requirements, and ensure proper parts and components are available prior to installation.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot accessory related issues, electrical concerns, and fitment problems.
  • Collaborate with the Parts Department to verify accessory availability and resolve installation discrepancies.
  • Work with Sales and Service teams to coordinate accessory installation timelines for sold units and inventory vehicles.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of installations and ensure proper completion of repair orders.
  • Inspect completed work to verify quality, fitment, and proper operation of installed accessories.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following dealership and OEM safety protocols.
  • Stay current with OEM accessory catalog updates, installation training, and new product offerings.
  • All other duties as assiigned by leadership.

Qualifications

  • Red Seal Automotive Technician certification or equivalent experience preferred; accessory installation experience strongly considered.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with knowledge of automotive systems.
  • Experience installing a wide range of vehicle accessories, both OEM and aftermarket.
  • Ability to read and interpret installation manuals, wiring diagrams, and OEM service documentation.
  • Proficiency with automotive tools, electrical testing equipment, and power tools.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
  • OEM specific accessory installation training or certifications are an asset.
